Would anyone like to come over to the kitchen for some tea?  I just started the kettle.

There were some interesting varieties in the back of the cupboard.  It does look like someone has already used most of  the mint and earl grey, but I found some very nice green teas and some interesting looking herbals.

In the weeks I have been here I have spoken to a great many people.  And some of the things they have mentioned to me sound very strange and curious.

And now I am wondering a great many things.  My own world is filled with such creatures as dragons and djinn and wizards and fire witches and giants and many others beside.  Are there truly so many worlds with none of that?

Also, I am wondering if anyone has any dried feverfew.  I would gather it myself, but I'm afraid it is the wrong time of year for it.

Since it appears that I will be here some time, I suppose I have some questions to ask.  Would anyone be willing to give me lessons in anything?   I'm not picky about the topic, although I would like to continue my studies in fencing, politics, cooking and magic.

[Cimorene was hopeful that no one would object.  Back home it simply wasn't done for a princess to learn such things.  But from the people she had met so far in the castle she thought that maybe the attitude here would be different.  More like the dragons.  After all, Kazul had always encouraged her studies.]

[Today Cimorene can be found in the kitchen, having propped up the journal on one counter as she works.  From the journal can be heard the sound of soft tuneless humming and the clatter of pans as she sorts through them.  Eventually she pauses and stares down at the piles of saucepans and frying pans with an affronted expression]

Surely there must be a flambe pan in here somewhere!

[She hasn't noticed the nutcracker sitting on the counter Post is open for kisses, planned and not..]

[It hadn't taken Cimorene long to settle in.  Not long after arriving she had located her new room on the first floor of the Gaudium tower.  It was rather a pleasant place, she thought.  Much less musty than the caves she had become accustomed to.  No matter how much one altered them with furniture and reshaping, there had never been any doubt that the caves of the dragons were caves.

But even so, she thought it was missing something.  After some thought she pulls out the journal as the most readily available source of paper, and begins to carefully inscribe a few words in neat print.]

Absolutely no wizards, salespeople or rescuers permitted.  This means YOU.

[With that done she neatly tears the page out of the journal and goes to apply it outside her door.]

 Oh, bother.

[From the journal comes the sound of an irritated sigh.]

This is clearly a magical castle. Another one, I should say.   And considering I don't remember leaving the cave?  I suppose I've been carried off.

No one is going to lock me in a tower, right? Or expect me to prick my finger on a spindle or eat a poisoned apple?   It might be traditional, but I've always thought that they sounded like very boring kinds of adventures.

Besides, I don't have the time for such things.  I was supposed to be making cherries jubilee for a party of six dragons tonight, and I'm already behind schedule.

Now, can anyone tell me how far I am from the Mountains of Morning?
