[ Now that it's nighttime, and after spending a good portion of his afternoon trying to map out and ward off people walking across the portion of the castle's massive yard that he's designated for his future Quidditch pitch James is exhausted. It's a busy job, marking it off appropriate for the future games he wants to hold... once the really does get up some hoops. Testing the various brooms on them to make sure they won't buck off an inexperienced rider, and considering there's all of two people here that he knows of that's played Quidditch at all that's an important step.
Then there's the various charms and spells that go into everything to make it a proper game and not just people flying over a section of grass tossing regular balls at one another. Of course all of that equipment needs proper testing as well.
You really don't think about these things when you're a player, but James is starting to appreciate the work that goes into all this.
Either way you might run into James putting on some last minute touches for the day onto some of these brooms, or you might see him scuffling back into the castle lobby with a huge pile of brooms and a surprisingly large collection of books awkwardly held in his arms, while a large bag swings over his shoulder.
No matter where you find him, James looks ready to collapse in front of a fireplace for the next few hours. ]
((OOC. The post is open for any remaining planned (or unplanned!) kisses people had with James. Or just a regular open post where no kissing need happen!))

...Art thou sweeping?
[that's a lot of brooms]
no subject
That would be the traditional use of a broom, wouldn't it?
no subject
What are the non-traditional uses of a broom?
no subject
Well... I suppose the way I'm using them is fairly traditional as well.
no subject
Which is?
no subject
Flying of course.
no subject
Verily? Is this a common concept amongst humans?
[silly wingless things]

As opposed to 'muggles?'

Oh! Do you need any help with that?
no subject
Yeah alright. Saves me a levitation spell later on.
[ Adjusting his grip he tries to shift some of the brooms forward towards her, figuring those will be the easier things to carry. ]

Why do you have so many of these?

Either you've got one hell of a lot of housework to do or you've got something else going on, there. Need a hand with those?
no subject
If you could take the broom jabbing me in the side that'd be grand.
let me know if this isn't okay
She takes it and weighs it in her hands, regarding the boy]
You're definitely not doing housework with these.
it's perfectly fine!
Are you sure about that?
no subject
Pretty sure, yeah.
no subject
You know what they're for then?
no subject
I do. Honestly I'm probably the reason why witches are associated with brooms in my world. [her smile turns sheepish] Not that I meant for it to happen that way.
no subject
Meant for what to happen?

Makes you wish Moony were here, don't it?

James turns around and tosses one at him. ]
It would certainly save me a lot of time and effort. Test that one out for me, will you?
no subject
He's just being silly and poking fun-- and catches the broom awkwardly, a little off-guard. ]
Anything in particular you want me to do with it? Merlin, Prongs, how many spells did you put on this thing...?
no subject
More than enough. Just make sure it can fly without exploding and I think we'll be just fine.
