[As wonderful as the holiday season is, with its warmth and cheer, and while even Jane can appreciate the kissing hijinks while at the same time wishing they weren't happening, there's been something nagging at her for a while now. It's only now that, as she sits in her room preparing little things for her friends, does she realize what it is, and she scrambles for her journal to let it out.]

...I miss my Dad.

I mean, well, I've missed him ever since I came here, I never stopped. It just hurts a lot more right now. It's going to be Christmas soon, and I'm not decorating the house with him, or baking with him, or shopping with him, or anything... [Her voice cracks slightly.] Aren't you supposed to be with your loved ones at Christmastime?

[There's a long pause, quiet save for a few deep breaths. It seems like someone is determined not to cry over here. Then, quietly,] I think I need to take a walk. Nutcrackers be damned.

[Feel free to reply to Jane over the journal - she'll take it with her as she wanders the halls. Also feel more than free to run into her and give her a Christmas smooch!]

It just...doesn't feel right not to be with him.

[Evan, for his part, had been doing much the same thing. He was oblivious to the nutcrackers, and really just wanted to get to know the castle better. He'd done much the same thing his first few days at the Jean Grey Academy. He's got his journal in hand as he walks, and both sees Jane's words as they're written on the page, and hears her nearby, so he strolls her direction.]

I miss my Ma and Pa too. I...haven't seen them in a year, since I had to leave for school. It's my first Christmas without them.

[Hm? The words are so quiet, but Jane recognizes them. She happens to look over in your direction.]

[Granted he hasn't been separated from them as nearly long as Jane has, but the idea of spending Christmas without them wasn't one he liked to think about.]

There should be a "We Miss Our Parents" Club, and we could invite the entire castle to join.

It sucks to loose someone... but try to focus on the people you do have.

"Loved ones" and "family" don't have to just be people you're related to.

[After hearing her message on the journals, Dirk set off to find her. He figured she might need someone to hang out with, all things considered, and that a talk on the journals wouldn't be nearly as good as one face to face. It takes him a while to figure out where she is, but he finally managed to run into her as she roamed the castle.]

[That's odd, she hadn't really expected to run into Dirk. Most everyone just talks over the journal here; meetups are usually a lot better though. She'll give you her best smile, which still isn't much right now, but it is something.]
