[Mistress's chambers are never a good place to find yourself uninvited. For one, there are all sorts of weird things lying around, like skulls and whips and not-completely-phallic objects. For another, Mistress is very temperamental, and dislikes being disturbed.

Especially when she's trying to sleep. Which she is. Because heaven knows she's not getting invited to any all-night orgies in this place, so why bother staying up? So she's just sort of peacefully dozing, or a peacefully as she's really capable of being.

Until, of course, the castle decides it wants to be her best friend.

Do you have any other suggestions for ways to pass the time, or are we just going to stare at each other until you give in?

[She's lighting a handful of candles now, though none of the flames seem to be as bright as they probably could be.]

Not much. You already turned down being taught magic, so unless you want to either read books about magic or wank, the choices are talking, sleeping and fucking.

What, exactly, did you think the options would be?

Honestly, I don't know. I just know part of me was sort of hoping for something else.

Like what? You don't reserve the right to complain if you're not going to contribute, Washington. What would you normally do to pass time?

Most of them require more lighting and more space than the castle is likely to give us.

[themistress]

All right. Given the constraints, what would you do?

[She's getting annoyed, and the flames begin to flicker ominously.]

[Going very quiet now, uneasy at that]

[Silence is not what she was looking for! She glares at him for several seconds before closing her eyes and exhaling. She can't kill him -- she refuses to sit around with a dead body for an indefinite amount of time. Whippings are a possibility, but she'd have to struggle in the dark for her whip.

No. The best option is to make him calm enough to cooperate. Since he's still balking at the best and easiest method, she'll have to figure something else out.

With a sigh, Mistress crosses the room to stand next to him.]

Washington?

[The more time they spend like this, the more restless Washington finds himself getting. And Mistress getting closer has him on edge.] What?

Why are you so tense?

I'm not fond of being locked up.

I spent too much time like that in the past.

What will make you feel better? Short of being able to leave.

You mentioned alcohol earlier. [And with a wish, she has a large flagon of mead, because that's what makes sense to her. She's assuming he wants something stronger than wine or ale.] Here.

... Not one of my usual choices for drink. What is it?

[themistress]

Mead. I thought you'd want something stronger than wine or ale. [SHE'S FROM THE DARK AGES, WASH. YOU HAVE TO WORK WITH HER.]
