Five other castles (at the least)- why have we seen so little of them?

-Libet: [page number]
-Enigma: [Same page number here] Nothing is known regarding this castle save its location on the map.
-Draconis: Notes from Lastlook indicate the presence of another castle, one which was brought down by the plague we ourselves experienced not long ago. [page number page number] There remains the possibility that this is the proper name for Cair Enigma. Given the name, it is likely linked to the “Dragon” of “The Five.”

We have, then, knowledge of three lesser castles, at the most, and two at the least. Two are abandoned, having experienced major disasters. It is also worth noting that, in both instances, records indicate the castles had ceased communication with their residents- as ours had until recently.

Do other castles remain undiscovered? Might they still be populated?

[And all of these notes leave her....not much further than she was before. Sigh.]

[Galadriel hates December. She really does. No matter how she tries, she can’t seem to avoid the castle’s shenanigans this time of year. And, as much as she would love to, she can’t exactly spend the entire month in her room, nor can she hang off Celeborn’s arm constantly, in the hopes that he’d be the only one she’d kiss.

So, in need of some fresh air, she wraps her cloak about her and heads to the stables- it may be cold, but a ride would do her good. And it seemed a good way to escape people.

There’s only one problem with this plan: she has to get from her room to the stables and there are plenty of nutcrackers decorating the castle along the way.]

Well met, Master Snicket. I am called Galadriel.

[it's fine, he realizes that it isn't everyone's custom to do so.]. What a lovely name. And please, you've no need to be so formal. I am not master of anything. Intermediary at most things, expert in a few, and novice of several, but hardly a master.

[She chuckles lightly.] How would you prefer to be addressed, then.

You may simply call me Lemony. [he tips his hat a little, because being a gentleman is always in style]

Lemony it shall be, then. [Another little smile and a dip of her head.] Have you been here long?

I have not, no - little more than a month. And yourself?

It has been over a year now. [It's said matter-of-factly. If she's upset about it, she's not letting it show.]

Goodness. I've met several people now who can attest to that level of tenure, but it is still remarkable to me ... Has it been difficult for you?

It has, at times. Any who tell you otherwise lie to you. But I think I fare better than most.

If there are no difficulties in one's life, one is simply being ignorant, I feel. [he shrugs]

True enough, particularly in this place.

Indeed. It seems to me that you are not fully an indoctrinated resident of Paradisa, unless you have endured some strange yet undeniable hardship.

Or, at the very list, an indignity. This place has a most peculiar sense of humor.

Thankfully, I have suffered so many indignities in my life that, while still unpleasant, they do not affect me quite so badly.

I am sorry to hear that. Or glad, perhaps, depending on one's perspective.

If my opinion counts, madam, I would much rather see anyone smile than weep.

[She laughs- a light, almost musical, sound.] Then smile I shall.

[the sound of her laughter has an almost restorative effect on his soul, it seems - she cannot see his smile beneath the scarf, but its folds shift accordingly]

And this castle is brighter for it, madam, I assure you.

And yet you will not share your smile with castle. [Another little chuckle.] Is this meant to be your defense against the mischief of this place? [Gesturing to the scarf, of course.]

It ... well, it is an attempt, if nothing else. I'll simply say that my last experience was quite abrupt and uncomfortable, and ... leave it at that for propriety's sake.

You are not alone in that, I assure you. There are precious few ways for such a thing not to be uncomfortable.

I'm glad that someone here agrees with me! [he shudders a little] I was beginning to think everyone else was depraved. Those who've accosted me either seemed to think it perfectly normal, or something to make a game of.

Oh, I am sure that there are a great many more who find it disturbing than you may think. It is only that we have decided that it is better left unmentioned.

I suppose prudence is the better course of action when compared to hysteria. Though, no matter what, it is all terribly embarrassing.

You will find no argument from me. It is both embarrassing and distressing, particularly if one's spouse also happens to be in the castle.
