[Katniss sighs as she cracks open the journal, a Coca-cola bottle in her hand as she watches the adorable polar bear baby toddle off down the steps.]

Well, now I'd just be a horrible person if I hunted them.

[She glares at the bottle, before she sighs and takes a swig off of it. It's fairly delicious, and she doesn't feel horrible, so that's a relief. She sits down on the ice steps, a grumpy expression on her lips.]

So what the hell am I supposed to do now for entertainment? I can't very well shoot at icebergs.

[Katniss looked over at her winter gear, giving her a nod of approval. Herself, she's bundled up in warm wool and leather. She shoulders her bow and quiver, then nods out to the frozen wasteland.]

Let's go, then. [And she leads the way, grey eyes bright.] What do you think we'll find?

More penguins and polar bears. If we were closer to water, we could probably see some walruses.

Huh ... do you think walrus meat is good to eat? [She could at least think of things to do with the blubber.]

Well, seems like the perfect time to test it out, don't you think? [Yes, she is giving you a teasing grin, Hermione. She's probably not serious. Probably.]

Why not? Trying the foods of other cultures is a fantastic learning opportunity.

Very well. We'll hunt walruses while we're out. [And she's strangely pleased with this. Makes it more like a real trip.]

Erm, I think I'll leave the actual hunting to you. But if there are walruses, I would love to observe them!

Oh ... well, I suppose it would be good to observe them first.

[Separate the mothers and the calves from the bulls, all that. She didn't want to break up any families, after all.]

Yes. But we should ask the villagers if they've seen any around.

Right ... do you think their homes are all ice and snow as well? [That might be interesting to see, at least.]

Perhaps. Changes like this are erratic when it comes to the village. Sometimes it disappears completely.

Huh ... so we could be hiking across this winter wasteland to find more winter wasteland? [She frowned briefly, before sticking her finger in the air.] The village is about - what - two, three miles this direction?

I believe so. It will be good exercise, don't you think?

I do think, actually. [She could feel that charge in her blood, the thrill of a new challenge. She loved this sort of thing.]

[She hiked up her steps again and fell into step with the other girl, enjoying the cold wind on her face, and the wonder of the unknown for once.]
