[Katherine can be found in the lobby. She's dressed in plenty of layers, her dress and coat meant to keep her warm as she heads out. To be perfectly honest, she's a bit tired of the eighteen-hundreds, but at least she looks stunning. She opens her journal and sets it out onto her lap, pressing the pages open.]

Would anyone care to accompany me to some ice skating outside? I'm certain the pond is frozen over enough.

I've never been ice skating before! Is it hard to do?

It is something that takes practice. It's about balance and momentum.

Balance I have, but I grew up in Kansas. Not exactly known for it's icy winters, you know?

Anyway, I'll wish up a pair of skates and meet you outside? I've never skated before, but I'll bet I'll have it mastered in no time.

Such confidence and I shall gladly wait for you outside. My name is Katherine. [She's in for a surprise.]

I'm Evan! I'll see you in a bit! I'm...kind of conspicuous, so you shouldn't have any trouble knowing it's me.

[He'll head down a while later, dressed in a black winter coat and blue snow pants, a black stocking cap crowning his head. His ice skates are draped over a shoulder, held together by the laces. He waves.]

You must be Katherine, right?

[She's seen a lot of things since arriving in the castle, but this is definitely a first. She tries not to show her surprise, but it is quite a unique situation.]

Yes-- I am. Are you're Evan.

[kid_apocalypse]

[At this point, Evan has gotten so used to that reaction that he barely notices it any more. In the back of his mind it hurts, but he's had to make peace with the fact that he doesn't look like most people. He nods in response, before sitting down to pull off his boots, and pull on his skates.]

Yup, that's me. Told you I was conspicuous, didn't I? Gray skin sorta runs in my family, I guess.

I'm sure it's been difficult to deal with. [What else is she supposed to say?]

Are you going to be warm enough? [She points to his jacket.]

[kid_apocalypse]

[He shrugs.]

I'm used to it. If I had a nickel for every time someone's looked at me like I'm a bug, you know?

[At her question, he nods.]

Oh yeah, I'll be fine. The cold doesn't bother me much, and once I get moving, I won't notice it at all I'll bet.

[He finishes lacing up his ice skates, stands up, and takes a few wobbly steps towards the pond, putting one foot down on the ice like he's dipping his toe into the water to check the temperature. Satisfied that it'll hold his weight, he put his other foot down, and tries to "walk" on the ice, not really knowing what he's doing.]

[Oh, Damon. Hockey wasn't even a sport in the South in the 1800s. In Canada, sure, but she knows her history very well.]

I'm not too familiar with that. Hardly at all to request someone play with me.

Are you looking to teach me? [She's positive he can hear the smirk in her tone.]

I'm certain the bottom of my crinoline will be ruined by the snow and ice. It won't matter if I have fun, though.

Are you interested in joining me, Damon?

Undecided on that front for now. Depends on what you've been up to.

Been up to? All I've done is enjoy the holiday. If you're expecting me to have come up with some nefarious plots, you'll be quite disappointed.

[She's late. Not by much, but enough that he might have considered that she'd not show up at all. She knocks on the door, an apologetic look already placed onto her features.]
