[Caterina has been using this time to read up on everything she missed while in Paris. Needless to say that came to an abrupt end recently. While she laments losing the chance to read the words of the people she desperately misses, it is also for the best. She needs to move on. It does not take her long to start working out the necessary steps to do so.]

I would tell you to feel free to investigate me if you do not recall my previous stay here but, that is now impossible. I will happily refer you to people who can vouch for my identity and character if need be.

[After that filter Caterina is exiting her room. She has her coat with her in hand since putting it on is a lost cause for her. Whoever she runs into on the way outside will no doubt get suckered into helping her.]

[Caterina opens the door with a soft, polite smile.] Hello. [She steps aside to let him in.]

A pleasure to see you. [he smiles and steps inside] Now, what can I do for you, mm?

[Caterina shuts the door behind before getting into it.] I need work to occupy my time. Since I am in the business of keeping peace at home and a lawyer in Paris it only makes sense to offer the Peace Patrol my services.

Tell me what are the pressing needs of the organization at the moment?

It may actually be particularly useful to have the services of a lawyer. [Five smiles, perfectly at ease standing just inside the doorway. no awkwardness here] We've been trying to decide on a set code of conduct to follow, as guidelines for detaining less ... savory residents who cause due harm to others, or damage to important resources ... though it's difficult going, because with so many from such different walks of life, finding a median is rather like getting the pieces of a glass to all shatter in the same direction.

[he pauses]

Not quite as effective a metaphor as I'd've hoped, but ... I suppose you get the picture.

It's a satisfactory explanation. [Caterina carefully brushes a curl from her face.]

May I ask who it is you have in detention currently as well as their crimes?

Of course. ... We have five prisoners, currently ... four in custody, one fugitive who I believe is hiding in the Dead Zone. [he'll start to idly pace the room as he talks, because it helps him think] Legato Bluesummers, Harvey Dent, Nikola Tesla, and Billy ... whose last name no one really seems to know, though he's also decided to nickname himself "Dr. Horrible" for some strange reason.

All but Mr. Dent were arrested at the same time, around mid-August, for involvement in a rather large attempt to overtake the castle and its residents... That was spearheaded by a gruesome creature named Riful, but she's no longer here, nor are the others who tried to assist her ... save for our fugitive, Joshua Christopher. They all participated to varying degrees. Nikola and Billy were involved to the least degree; they simply kidnapped people that Riful kept as hostages in an attempt to sway us into doing her bidding. [the dark look in his eyes will tell you how well that went] Joshua actively fought against us, along with Legato: both are powerful telepaths who sought to control the minds of our allies and make them fight against us.

Mr. Dent ... was arrested a bit earlier than that, for attempted murder. He's the only one among them who's been properly tried and sentenced ... he suffers from a split personality. The judgement passed was for him to undergo extensive therapy with a resident psychologist until he was cleared for parole.

Unfortunately, that psychologist has been "sent home", so to speak, so ... we may have to rethink his sentence entirely.

[Caterina is darkly amused at Riful's tale. How deluded that monster must have been to believe she could overtake a castle filled with so many powerful residents simply because she had a talent for kidnapping innocent people. How she utilized the telepaths was troubling but, also promising. If they could bend to her will why not theirs given the right incentive? This was something she would have to think over more later in private. For now she is jumping back into the conversation at Dent's part.]

This murder attempt... what was the motivation for it? Is it likely he'll repeat the crime again if set free?

I'm entirely too afraid he might. Normally I'm all for the benefit of the doubt, but his is a very violent, unpredictable case of split personality. His better part is just as polite as the other is violent. It puts one rather in mind of The Strange Case of Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde, if you're at all familiar with the tale.

I am aware of the tale. [She frowns.] Did this doctor leave notes on how to handle them in the event of their departure?

I'm not certain. He did have a practice in town ... perhaps his casefiles are still there. His secretary is still here ... I don't know her, personally, but she's the one who discovered his departure.

[he takes out his journal and thumbs through it]

A Miss .... Harmony Kendall, I believe. You could try getting in touch with her.

I'll have words with her then. If there's anything to report I'll inform the Peace Patrol.

It's no trouble at all. I would like to see the castle safe from its own residents at the very least. If I can help with that cause than I am content.
