xxxiii λ christmas
It has been a good day!
[He's a touch tipsy :')]
I rather like this Christmas. You see, in my time, gifts are usually only given between landlords and their tenants, so it is sweet to see that everyone is so generous in the future.
However, I rather prefer it as Novena, in which we have fun for eight days, and into the New Year.
Also, the man who first created la presepe -- a nativity scene -- was an Italian! He may not have been a Florentine, but Italian will have to do. Yet one more thing you should thank Italia for! We may as well have invented Christmas for you all.
And while we are on the subject: why have I not see any presepe here? You should get on that, fellow residents, it is not too late! At worst, if we cannot find any sculptors amongst our lot, we can just have some dress up in costume and pose for some time in the lobby.
[Yeah, tipsy.]
But even so... to my friends, grazie per la tua amicizia in my first year in Paradisa. I hope there will be more to come!

Plus your Italian is getting better! It gets so lonely hearing nothing but this ugly Common Tongue everywhere instead of beautiful Italian.

Oh, oh! I can say more.
Dove posso trovare il bagno? [How beautiful, asking where the bathroom is... but hey, useful phrases!]
And counting, I've got that down. Uno, due, tre, quattro, cinque, sei, sette, otto, nove, dieci!
[There's some mispronunciations in there, but she might have listened to a few audiobooks when bored.]

That question will not get you far in Venice, they will just tell you to go around the nearest corner. But your voice is good! Who has been teaching you?

[Which reminds him:]
What do you think of the gifts I got you?

I love them! [The gloves and necklace are ugly as hell, but--] I've never had my own sword before, let alone have an honest opportunity to learn how to use one. You know me way too well.
How about you, huh?

I liked your gifts. I will make good use of them.

[Not for use against people, of course, but strange creatures? Hell. Yes.]

When you learn how to use it effectively!
