[Morning arrives in Paradisa and for once Gren can actually be found in the castle proper. It's Christmas, and there doesn't seem to be anything the castle can do to dampen his spirit, lingering ice-melt not withstanding. He'll be easy enough to find - stopping for a quick breakfast in the kitchen first on his way up through the hallways to deliver the few gifts he'd gotten people (there was no way he'd ask the ghosts to deliver them for him, after all). His ultimate goal is of course the room of his erstwhile comrade. He's already smiling to himself as he knocks on the door.]

More than I would have expected. I don't think I spend enough time around her for most people to remember me.

[He tears the paper open with a smirk, which becomes a soft chuckle and he sorts through the stack of movies]

Mine feels a little inadequate now...

I guess I'll have to get a TV now.

[He notices and smiles, honestly a little flattered, but ]

I'll consider it. I don't actually stay in the castle much, and my place in town has no electricity.

Really? What do you do all day, then?

I work in town, at a bar. Most of the time I just walk around town and people watch, or listen to music. I guess sometimes I do get bored and come back up here to bother people while they're watching movies. [He smirks]

[Shatterstar grins in return]

I mostly go to bars to pick fights, but I could try something different some time.

[He laughs] I just tend bar and fix things. You're welcome to stop in for a drink sometime. It's called the Brass Tacks, though it's pretty deep into town. Residents don't usually come in there.

I'll try to find it the next time I'm in town.

[He looks thoughtful for a moment]

...I should probably find a job, too.

There's plenty available if you take the time to look. None of it's very exciting, I have to warn you, though it passes the time and pays the rent. I prefer not to live on somebody's tab, even if it's a magical all-providing castle.

I worked as a detective, in New York. Though I don't think Jaime ever actually paid me. It was more something to do to pass the time.

You did, huh? You didn't exactly strike me as the "cop" type.

Well, we specialized in mutant investigations, rather than 'Law & Order' stuff.

That sounds pretty...specialized.

Well, mutant affairs and some supernatural stuff. But not the sort of thing regular police departments are equipped for.

I'm sorry, you keep using that word and I'm not sure, but...mutant? What do you mean by that?

Oh - in the world I am from, people who are granted abilities beyond average because of specific mutations in their genome.

Wow. What kind of abilities?

It depends - some or just stronger or faster than other people. Others can read minds, or control weather, or turn into ice or fire.

And you investigated people that could do those things?

Mostly. Sometimes things like demons, too. Oh, and we met a Norse goddess once.

Heh. This place must be like a regular day at work for you...

A bit. Less that I think this is normal and more... that I'm used to dealing with things that are not.

Fair enough.

Listen, I need to get going. But we should talk again later. Let me know if you're going to hit the theater again.
