paradisa | ❀ Episode 02 ❀ [Dictated / Action]

Goooood afternoon, Paradisa~!!!

[Rise's bubbly, cheerful voice projects through the journals, almost as if she's announcing through a sound system. But with much more manageable volume, which many residents will be thankful for. If one listens closely, they can hear what sounds like the ocean in the background.]

I've only been here for a few days, so let me introduce myself. I'm Rise Kujikawa, sixteen years old. I'm an idol back home, if you guys know what that is. Basically, I'm in showbiz. I perform as a singer and actress, and I might even break into film one day! But that's just one side of me. I've worked at my family's tofu shop too, and when I'm not working, I'm just an ordinary high school girl.

Now that you all know a little bit about me, I hope to hear from you too! I've met some really great people here already, but I hope to make lots of new friends while I'm here!

Aaaand, while I was looking around, I found this super neat place called the Four Seasons Room.

[She suddenly giggles.]

There's a beach in the castle in January!

[There's a brief pause.]

I guess that's normal for people who have been here for a while, huh? But I skipped from spring all the way up to New Year's when I came here, so I missed a whole summer! And since I wanted to meet more of you, I thought "what could be better than a day at the beach?"

[As she continues, her dramatic pout is actually audible.]

It'd be no fun if I had to spend all this time by myself, but if you're busy, you can still say hi through the journals! I'll be watching and listening!

[Rise sounds annoyed, but also shows some restraint. She's determined not to let herself get too upset.]

[You and your crazy filter magic. At least he catches on quickly on what it is. While she obviously can't see it, he shrugs.]

All I'm saying is I wouldn't have expected it.

Well, you didn't have to be so rude...

[I hope you're not expecting an apology, Rise, because he'll be skipping right over that.]

So, care to explain what that 'Four Seasons Room' even is?

I already said. It's a room with a nice, warm beach in it. In January!

[For some reason, Rise's finding it a lot easier to be civil with this guy today. Even though he's still being a bit of a jerk.]

[Possibly because he's yet to get to his snarking. He'd comment that doesn't make sense, but nothing in the place has made sense yet. At all.]

With that name, I'm sure there's more to it.

You mean like snow in spring? That'd be cool too!

[She almost seems to have forgotten how angry she was at Pixy just a couple of days ago...]

That was far from unusual in Belka.

[Granted, the last times he saw snow in Belka were in December and at Mount Ivrea, but it wasn't far from the truth that Belka could get pretty cold.

He smirks to himself then.]

By the way, you sure you're old enough to be at a beach without a chaperone?

I said I'm sixteen!

[And there it is again. Not the same, but a slight tinge of annoyance. What's his problem, anyway?]

Jeez, are you old and deaf?

You're still a kid as far as I'm concerned, and you aren't not doing much to get me to think otherwise.

[Seriously, girl, those were kiddie insults.]

You're rather naïve to be putting immediate trust in rooms you just discover.

I don't trust anything about this castle...

[She surprises even herself with her tone. Even, neutral. Not a twinge of annoyance at being called a kid.]

We're stuck here, anyway. If the castle's going to mess with us like everyone says, it can mess with us anywhere.

[She lets out an only mildly frustrated sigh.]

I'm not letting you ruin this already. I didn't sense anything wrong here. It's just a beach. In a room. And I'm going to enjoy it while it's still here.

If its magic is as powerful as it's made out to be, then it can certainly fool your 'senses'. I would be more concerned with a single poor decision to ruin your time than someone talking through a book.

[Most normal people would be stating this as 'Be careful' or 'Watch your back', but he generally goes a more... blunt approach.]

Jeez, you're a downer.

[She said she wasn't going to let him ruin things. And she isn't. She'll close the journal on him if she has to.]

Seriously, you worry too much. I'll be fine! You can just... go be a grump somewhere, or whatever you do.

[Well, if she doesn't listen to him, that's her problem. He'll ignore that 'grump' bit.]

We'll just say I have my reasons to have concerns.

S-showbiz? That's with movies right?
Movies... and-and... entertainment? Bright lights? Nice set?

[He chuckles.]

You could say I'm just beginning to submerge myself into the 'human medias'... so I don't actually know that much about them.

That's right! Not just movies but television dramas, commercials, concerts, magazines, photobooks... all kinds of stuff!

[She gives a bit of a nervous laugh, thinking back to how she arrived a few days ago.]

I even thought this place was a movie set when I got here. But it's waaay too nice. Most sets are super fake when you're really there. They only have to look good on camera.

Commercials...?

[Woah now. He doesn't know what any of that is! He sounds a bit fascinated...]

Aha! I can imagine.
Spontaneous castle. Just appearing there. Out of the blue. No warning or anything.

[She's absolutely stunned at the possibility. She knew people around here came from very different places, but she never imagined they'd be that different!

She assumes from the voice that Wheatley must be an adult - a nicer one than Pixy, at least - and addresses him accordingly.]

Anyway, nice to meet you, Wheatley-san!

["Cognitive genius"? Sounds like the kinds of words Naoto-kun would use...]

It was a little surprising, but it's not the strangest thing I've seen. It's actually kinda neat. Even if everyone's right about the castle messing with us sometimes...

[He repeats. Yep. Yep. British accent. Knows nothing about honorifics.]

Aha... no love, it's just Wheatley.

[He chuckles.]

Oh! You've just gotten here! You won't believe what it does!
Flying things, making people kiss, turning us all into proper goofballs.
How long did you say you've been here?

[Huh, he's the second to ask her to just call him by his name. Come to think of it, she knows some other countries don't use honorifics either. Maybe some of the places these people are from are like that, too.]

O-okay... Wheatley...

[Gah, it feels awkward when she says it like that! She quickly rushes on to the next subject.]

Um... oh, right! I've only been here about six days.

Does... does the castle really do all those things?!

[Some of it sounds like it could be fun, but from what she's heard, the castle doesn't always play nice...]

People like to say it's magical, but magic doesn't actually exist.

[She giggles.]

Hasn't everybody? I've even been considered for Dorothy-chan a few times.

I have a theory that somewhere in this castle... there's somebody running the show. Watching all of us. Making stuff happen so it seems like magic, though it really isn't.

[Wow, he sounds exactly like Naoto-kun now, trying to solve the case of Paradisa. But even Naoto-kun wouldn't have believed the truth about the TV world before she exhausted all other options and saw it for herself...]

Does it really make a difference, though? Whatever's doing it, it still happens.

[If the others were here, she might want to investigate with them. But right now, it doesn't look like there's much she can do even if she did.]

Besides, this beach room is pretty nice! Feels just like the real thing!

So, you know, the castle magic or whatever it is isn't all bad.
