048 Red Letters

[Two years. Two years in this castle and it does THIS to her? Happy fucking anniversary, Nora, have some wings. Oh and by the way you're now FOUR FUCKING INCHES TALL and glow like Rudolph's nose when you fly around.

Yep. This year's out to a fantastic start.

She would have been perfectly happy to sit in her room and sulk until this was over but NO. Thanks to her new diminutive size and ineptitude at flying she ended up accidentally shut out of her own room by her boyfriend. Since sitting on the doorknob and sulking was lame (and cold) she decided that she might as well try to learn how to be less of a failure at flying since she had no idea how long she'd be stuck like this. That being decided she takes off, rolling her eyes only slightly at the red glow that surrounds her as she flies.

So the good news is she's getting better at flying. The bad news is she's still working on, uh, stopping. She turns a corner and realizes too late she's flying straight at someone. Wat do?!]

((OOC: Happy Paraversary, Nora! Feel free to see her/be run into anywhere in the castle))
theabjectauthor: (I am in a surreal place.)

How very fortunate that you happen to have a friend who would be more than happy to help you look, then.

[he holds out his hand, palm down, for her to land on]
theabjectauthor: (I am defending my point of view.)

You know ... [he lifts her up so that she can ride on his shoulder, where it's easier to see]

I've done quite a lot of research that concerns the circumstances of small people in terribly unfortunate situations. It might surprise you just how much they're able to care for themselves, if they're willful enough. For example - would you say it was possible for an infant to scale the inside of an elevator shaft?
theabjectauthor: (I am trying to escape!)

Oh, yes. I did not see it with my own eyes, but I have seen evidence and heard accounts. Though, not all infants have her unusual dental fortitude....

[he hesitates at the stairs]. Speaking of elevators, would you prefer to go that way?
theabjectauthor: (I am knowledgeable)

I'm rather certain those weren't meant to be opened orally. [even so, he can't help but be mildly amused. he'll take the elevator, just so there's a smoother ride for her]

Did you at least get a quarter back for your tooth, so that it was a somewhat fair trade?
theabjectauthor: (I am perplexed by you.)

Strange, isn't it.... How many things this place can dredge up from the depths of our memory. Do you think there might be any particular reason it changed you like this?
theabjectauthor: (I am exploring and possibly lost.)

[personal profile] theabjectauthor 2013-01-20 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, that may be a very valid theory. I've heard enough people's opinions on the subject since I've gotten here to think so, anyway.
theabjectauthor: (I wish you'd educate yourself.)

It's hardly nothing if it affects you personally. I'm sure there are several people who would be delighted if they were changed into marmosets, but personally, having spent an extensive amount of time training them, I know their negative points, and would hardly be enthusiastic about the prospect at all.

[with that, he swings the door to the library open] Now then. Help me find Row 629, for flight engineering?

I did, yes - as messengers. [what, doesn't every world have trained marmosets?]

Thank you. [he'll start heading through the stacks] A poet, an artist, and a librarian ... [he smiles] At this point, I can safely say that I've no doubt giving you that notebook was a good choice.

I'm honored by your honor, to be quite frank. Perhaps, in this place, the VFD can come to mean something noble, once more...
