So Gideon's gone. He's probably back home concocting his next scheme or something. Anyway, if you don't know who he is then consider yourself lucky. He's very charismatic, but once you get to know him he can be kind of a jerk sometimes. I guess I won't be needing bodyguards anymore, too.

But enough about that. I have been reunited with Waddles ever since Christmas, so all right with the world once again.

[There's an audible oink that can be heard over the journal]

Speaking of Christmas, I was kind of unconscious for a while and then stuck somewhere, and also things happened? What I'm trying to say is I lost some valuable knitting time, so Christmas gifts have been delayed for a while now. Who wants to make it an early Valentine's Day present instead?

It can keep trying to stall me, but I'm a lean, mean knitting machine. I'm not letting a dumb castle get between me and making Christmas gifts! I mean Valentine's Day gifts!

It's genius! I bet no one's ever given a Chrisentine gift before. This could become a thing! First, I storm the castle with my combined holiday gifts. Then we start celebrating it! Imagine the decorations. Trees decorated in candy hearts? Cloth diapers instead of stockings? Because Cupid. Gingerbread roses!

See? We could make a killing on greetings cards.

Uh. I mean. Everyone would dig the new holiday-y fuzzy feelings.

No, no. Go back to making a killing! People would totally buy into that. If not everyone, than a good amount. Greeting cards never go out of style. Besides, fuzzy feelings are still number one priority, but making money because of it is like, you know--an added bonus!

[Oh nooo this is the opposite of what he wanted. He shouldn't be influencing the youngins to his ways]

Have a slice of life advice pie, Mabel. Making money isn't as fun as they say it is.

That pie sounds boring. And bland. It's not like I want to make a big ol' corporation out of it, just a few extra caisos! I promised a friend I would ease up on the wishing, but I can't exactly get what I want if I'm not allowed to wish or make some cash moneys.

Isn't there anyone around here who can give you pocket money. Someone's taking care of you, right? [Because all children are seven until they grow up as far as the Once-ler's concerned]

No? I've kinda just been doing my thing on my own.

...Are you even serious? So you've been cooking your own meals and everything?

Well, sometimes I cheat and wish up food. But come on, you know most of the time there's always someone who made too much food in the kitchen. I eat that, too.

I figured anywhere else it might be weird for a kid to be on her own, but this is a magic castle that caters to your needs so it's kind of like a guardian in a very twisted sense?

I think malnourished kids just stand around looking sad. That's what they show on TV anyway. But don't worry, that won't be me, and to make sure that you know, I'll check in ever week.

Is weekly enough? Or should it be more frequent?

I think I can work with weekly, any more and I'd just be clingy.
