013 - Swoooosh

[silentrunning]

[Chell's sitting on the beach, staring out at the water. This is the very first time she's ever been to a beach, so she's soaking up the sunrise. Her journal is open on her lap, and she's writing in it, kind of distractedly.]

This place is pretty. I think I could sit here forever. Anyone want to come join me?

[Sitting on the beach is nice. But it'd be nicer with company.]

[a young centaur boy appraoches her] Forever is a long time to sit anywhere. I would be careful about sand in your pants if you chose this place.

[She appraises him for a moment, and then writes a message.....]

I've never been here before... What is it like to have sand in your pants?

Incredibly uncomfortable. Or so I'm told. I don't have need of them.

[silentrunning]

[Chell chuckles and writes back.]

I don't think they would make pants that would fit you. Besides, as you say you don't need them, and you look perfectly lovely without them.

Lovely? How horrible. I was going for "heroic".

[silentrunning]

[Chell nibbles her lip for a minute thinking, before writing back.]

You are also heroic. Being heroic is a good thing. But being both lovely and heroic? That is an amazing feat to pull off indeed.

You're a strange one. I don't think I've seen you on this beach before.

[silentrunning]

[She shakes her head and pens another message]

No... I've never been here before. I'm new I suppose.

[waterproofed]

You'll be old in no time at all.

[both_neither]

[Gren has managed to get himself un-lost. Un-lost from the castle anyway, and both the beach and Chell are a welcome site.]

Oh man am I glad to see you.

[silentrunning]

[Chell recognizes Gren. First... well second familiar face she's seen but the other person didn't seem to recognize her. She leaps to her feet and darts over to hug him before writing something.]

What IS this place? do you know?

[both_neither]

[He shakes his head] Not a clue. It's like a storybook or a cartoon but I can't put my finger on it. I'm not even sure we're in the castle anymore.

[lioneyed]

Where are you? [because he could use a familiar face]

[silentrunning]

[So could she, actually! So she writes back a message, just as a particularly big wave washes in, causing a couple of droplets to spatter the journal.]

I'm... on the beach. It's really beautiful. But I'm puzzled. Should the sun be rising this long?

[lioneyed]

Oh! I think I passed by there earlier, though I'll have to see if I can find my way back.

I'm not sure - a lot of things here don't seem to make much sense.

It does seem as if this world follows some sort of very odd logic and/or physics we could only guess at.

It's more like a dream than a real place. Though dreams can be very real in their own ways.

[As it happens, today brings Aradia to the beach as well! Everywhere else is just getting crazy. She eschews the journal altogether and just replies out loud as she lands nearby.]

It's nice, but forever's a pretty long time, you know.

[And that earns her a grin and a wave as Chell gets up and wipes the sand off her butt before writing a message back and wandering over.]

This is definitely true. But in a place like this, I bet forever is an actual possibility?

It could be, I guess. I like to focus on smaller units of time, though. They are much easier to keep track of.

[She sits down in the sand, draping her arms over her knees, and looks back to Chell, an implied invitation to join her.]
