[Steve hasn't been in the best of moods following his conversation with Katniss. That isn't going to stop him from trying to sound positive as he addresses the castle at large. His delivery is noticeably flat however.]

That was some trip, huh? Did everybody get back okay?


[Friends]

So I might have jumped through the mirror after someone. I know I should have said something sooner, but everything got a little funny in there. Just thought I'd let you know in case you were wondering where I went.

[There's a long pause before he leaves the filter with a question:] How have you been?

[Gallery filter]

[He'll leave his journal open while he goes to work on a project. He started it in early December after Peeta's announcement about Rue's departure. Steve had promised Peeta she wouldn't be forgotten. Since Peeta's chosen tribute on his world was a painting of Rue, Steve had thought he'd try the same thing. Life gets busy though. He never got as far into the project as he would have liked.

With Peeta gone and what he learned about Katniss before going through that mirror still fresh in his mind, he is recommitting himself to finishing it. If anyone would like a word with him, they'll find him working in front of an unfinished painting of a little girl by a lake.]

That's... [Cruel? If the castle was responsible anyways. Who could know for sure?] It must have been hard. How are your eyes now?

I'm glad to hear it. I wouldn't want it to be hard for you to get around here.

I didn't have problems then either. I had Nymeria.

You were able to teach her to be a guide dog that quickly? Sorry, direwolf?

I didn't teach her anything. She just knew what I wanted. She was like that from before.

[ Also she'd slip her skin and enter Nymeria and thus was able to see, but lol not enough trust points to admit that. sorry, steve. ]

She must have some instincts.

[ You have no idea, Steve. tbf neither does Arya. Or the other Starks. ]

She's smart.

[valuedstrength]

[He really doesn't. Steve can only be impressed.] No kidding. I never met a veteran who needed one, but that can't be something they learn overnight. You're lucky you had her.

[wolfchild]

[ She shuffles a bit awkwardly. ]

Oh... sorry. You're here to talk to Jo. It's just the... [He makes a vague notion with his hand. The new look was worth commenting on.]

You can try upstairs. I didn't lock it behind me. If she's not in, I'll tell her you were by.

[wolfchild]

[ She looks at the floor. She knows she looks ugly. She doesn't need reminding. But Arya only nods and tries the stairs. After a while she comes back down, shaking her head. ]

She's not there.

[valuedstrength]

[He's got an inkling he might have said something wrong. Since Steve knows about as much about girls as he does physics he just assumes he's mistaken.

He returns to painting until Arya returns.]

I'll be sure to tell her what you were here for when she gets back. I wouldn't worry about too much about your job. Jo's the best boss anyone could ask for. I know she wouldn't hold that against you.

[wolfchild]

[ Arya remains unconvinced, but she nods. ]

You're welcome. [He smiles.] If you're going to be around here for work, you'll have to stop have breakfast with us sometime.

I usually aim for about seven in the morning, but I can be flexible.

Then just stop by. I'm sure Jo and Chase will love the extra company. [And obviously him.]

[ She nods. ]
