[Steve hasn't been in the best of moods following his conversation with Katniss. That isn't going to stop him from trying to sound positive as he addresses the castle at large. His delivery is noticeably flat however.]

That was some trip, huh? Did everybody get back okay?


[Friends]

So I might have jumped through the mirror after someone. I know I should have said something sooner, but everything got a little funny in there. Just thought I'd let you know in case you were wondering where I went.

[There's a long pause before he leaves the filter with a question:] How have you been?

[/friends]

[He'll leave his journal open while he goes to work on a project. He started it in early December after Peeta's announcement about Rue's departure. Steve had promised Peeta she wouldn't be forgotten. Since Peeta's chosen tribute on his world was a painting of Rue, Steve had thought he'd try the same thing. Life gets busy though. He never got as far into the project as he would have liked.

With Peeta gone and what he learned about Katniss before going through that mirror still fresh in his mind, he is recommitting himself to finishing it. If anyone would like a word with him, they'll find him working in front of an unfinished painting of a little girl by a lake.]

Yeah that was... something. I didn't know you were there too. Guess that place was bigger than I thought.

[fantasies]

[sheepishly:] Yeah, I... might've gotten lost pretty early.

[valuedstrength]

I'm sure we were all lost at some point. It was new territory for everyone far as I know.

[fantasies]

I thought I'd be able to figure it out, but it was a lot different than I expected.

[valuedstrength]

Why? Did you know about it going in?

[fantasies]

Sort of. There's a place like that in my world. [a beat] Well, not my world, but there's a world with it that my world knows about. [another beat] It's complicated.

[valuedstrength]

Sounds that way, but I think I follow you. [Think being the most important word here.]

[fantasies]

I only had what my book said, anyway. It wasn't a whole lot, and I don't even have it anymore.

[valuedstrength]

Was it a loss or did you just leave it at home?

[fantasies]

It's my loss. I always have it with me, it would have come with me if it wasn't.

[valuedstrength]

You always carry it with you?

[fantasies]

Most of the time, yeah. When I can.

It's important.

[valuedstrength]

How? Is it magic like our journals?

[fantasies]

No, it's just a regular book. But the stories that are in it, they're important.

[He pauses, trying to figure out how to word this.]

Everybody in my town is cursed. They don't remember who they really are, but my book does.

[valuedstrength]

I can see why the castle would want it then.

[fantasies]

Yeah. I thought I had them memorized, but it's getting harder to remember them the longer I'm here.

[valuedstrength]

You can always try writing them down. Maybe some of the other residents here can read it and talk to them about their lives if they come here. It could jog their memories.

[fantasies]

[There's a pause.]

... That's a really good idea. I didn't think about it like that!

[valuedstrength]

Well sometimes you need an outside perspective. Besides, it sounds like you have pretty big job. I don't think anyone would expect you to think of everything by yourself.

[fantasies]

No, but.... Well, I'm not doing the important part. My mom is doing that.

[valuedstrength]

She has a way to fix them?

[fantasies]

She's the one who's going to break the curse.
