[Steve hasn't been in the best of moods following his conversation with Katniss. That isn't going to stop him from trying to sound positive as he addresses the castle at large. His delivery is noticeably flat however.]

That was some trip, huh? Did everybody get back okay?

So I might have jumped through the mirror after someone. I know I should have said something sooner, but everything got a little funny in there. Just thought I'd let you know in case you were wondering where I went.

[There's a long pause before he leaves the filter with a question:] How have you been?

[He'll leave his journal open while he goes to work on a project. He started it in early December after Peeta's announcement about Rue's departure. Steve had promised Peeta she wouldn't be forgotten. Since Peeta's chosen tribute on his world was a painting of Rue, Steve had thought he'd try the same thing. Life gets busy though. He never got as far into the project as he would have liked.

With Peeta gone and what he learned about Katniss before going through that mirror still fresh in his mind, he is recommitting himself to finishing it. If anyone would like a word with him, they'll find him working in front of an unfinished painting of a little girl by a lake.]

Yeah that is big problem. The kids here run into the danger every time from what I've noticed. [A beat.] There aren't too many people who make that a personal responsibility right out the gate.

[In fact he can't really think of any. He doesn't want to generalize since he might not be looking in the right places.] Do you have some kids of your own?

I've noticed. [Some of them are a real handful]

No, none of my own. I'm a Guardian. It's my duty to protect the children of the world, has been for a long time.

Guardian, huh? I've never heard of a group like that. Do they just exist wherever you come from or are they a big secret?

[thatrabbitsdynamite]

They exist on Earth. There's a group of us, who swore an oath centuries ago to take care of all the children. We're not so much a secret as...well, people stop believing us as they grow up.

[valuedstrength]

[Steve pauses a moment as certain things start to click into place. He's about to ask what might be the stupidest thing he's ever asked before if he's wrong.]

... Are you the Easter Bunny?

[There really are some things you never thought you'd hear yourself ask, right bro? Still, Bunny sounds happy at the question]

Oh, uh... [Don'tgetstarstruckDon'tgetstarstruck.] it's a real pleasure, sir. I mean it. Is it rude to say I can't believe I'm talking to the Easter Bunny? If I was fifteen years younger, this would be the greatest thing that's ever happened to me.

Steve Rogers. [This would be the part where he shakes his hand... paw... but journals.] Do you mind if I ask a couple of questions?

Okay. Do you really hand out eggs?

I don't hand them out so much as hide them for the ankle biters to find. But yeah, I really do that. Every year. [HE HID THEM FOR YOU TOO STEVE]

[That's his next question!] ... Does this mean we've met before?

Well, I hide, it ruins the game if they see me. So I wouldn't say 'met' so much.

[There's a pause as he goes through his mental Rolodex of every kid who looked for Easter eggs on Earth ever]

New York. Only a little ankle-biter, I left them lower down, in the bushes, where the bigger kids couldn't get them but you could.

... That sounds about right. You probably saved me a few shiners. [Since the last thing he needed was more excuses to get into fights with the bigger kids.]

Yeah, well, there's a reason why you shouldn't take on every bully in New York when you're half the size of everyone else. Besides, I turned out alright.

[He has no idea what a 'corker of a bloke' is, but Steve can gather this is a compliment. He chuckles shyly. No, Steve still can't take a compliment for the life of him.]

It is, you've done well.

[It burns.] I'm trying. I don't want anything he did to be for nothing.

That's kind of you to say. I mean all of it was kind. I don't know how many people get the chance to thank you when they're all grown up, but thanks for everything. What you did... what you do means a lot to me.

[He knows the feeling so Steve is going to let that slide.] Maybe it'll pick up when Easter hits. Kind of hard for the grown ups to dismiss having the Easter Bunny around if there's eggs everywhere.
