They aren't. Plenty of white chickens that lay brown eggs and brown chickens that lay green ones.

But for your "green eggs," I'm assuming you mean the yolk, not the shell.

I don't know, maybe someone did some weird genetic experiments once, I'm not exactly the poster child of environmental issues awareness. I don't pay attention to that kind of thing.
