paradisa | 001: Arrival

[Romana is wandering the secret passageways between the Council Rooms and her Presidential Chambers. Ever since the supposed assassination attempt on her life; from which the Romana of this Gallifrey had, in fact, died; the only time she received time to herself was during these walks.

It was so frustrating that the Time Lords of this Gallifrey were so overly “proper.” It was even getting on Narvin’s nerves and that was saying something. But she had been right about one thing: being called “Supreme Leader” became old, very quickly.

As she walks, she is paying more attention to her thoughts rather than where she is going. It seemed that the "Free Time Virus" had yet to arrive here, but that didn't mean it wouldn't and that is cause for great concern. She turns a corner and opens the door to her private rooms. So lost is she in thought, that it takes her a full minute to realize that she is not in her private chambers. She looks around the room.]

This isn’t at all where I planned to be. I must have taken a wrong turn.

[It wasn't all that unusual to happen. Although this Alternate Gallifrey is very similar to her own, every once in awhile a subtle difference reveals itself. She walks back to the door, opens it and looks into the hall. Through one of the great windows in the hall, she can see outside. it looks nothing like Gallifrey. For starters the sky is a pristine blue, rather than the burnt-orange she expects to see.]

This… doesn’t look like Gallifrey.

[For a moment, Romana is hopeful that perhaps K-9 and Irving Braxiatel had finally sorted a way to get her back to the prime universe. She smiles warmly and runs into the hall.]

Brax!? K-9? I’m here! You did it! You brought me back! And none too soon. Did you retrieve Narvin as well?

[Her face falls as she looks around and didn’t see them anywhere.]

I don't know. I've never seen him in person, but he seemed to growl and rawr like a...feline when I first came upon him. We only talked through the journals, like I'm talking to you now.

[The Doctor had warned her away from him, but that wouldn't keep her away for too long. She's too sure of herself, cocky even]

No, not that I know of. It's just me, two Doctors, my parents, and Rose Tyler. There used to be more of us, but the castle tends to send people away after a certain amount of time. I used to call us the time travelers club.

[She chuckles]

Because we'd all been companions to the Doctor at one time. Anyway, I think you should really speak to the Doctor. He's more qualified to fill you in....

All Masters are dangerous. But if that is the incarnation I think he is, he has been tempered through experience....

[But she doesn't elaborate.]

Yes, I do need to speak with him. Though his qualifications are good only when compared to some.

[The Doctor is average by Time Lord standards, after all.]

So is everyone locked in rooms, then?

Pretty much. We can't get out.

Curious. I had no trouble when I arrived...

This place tends to pick and choose who it messes with. It's practically sentient.

Then perhaps it realizes that I am president and is treating me with a bit of respect.

[Yes, she's that arrogant.]

I doubt it, but if that's what you want to think. The castle doesn't tend to give a damn about titles or prestige.

You could have at least let me believe it a bit longer.

[Things haven't been easy for Romana recently.]

You seem to know everyone here. There's no one here going by the name Narvin, is there?

I wouldn't say I know everyone, but I have been here a year now, so I know my fair share of people.

[She pauses for a second to consider]

No, that name doesn't ring any bells for me.

So, I was plucked out of the other Gallifrey and deposited here. And I've gone from having four others to being alone.

[She groans and there's the sound of a soft thud - which is her head hitting her arms that are resting on the desk.]

[She feels for you, really she does]

It could be worse. You could be shacked up in a room for days.

You keep saying that, but you don't sound overly upset.

[She calls it as she hears it.]

[Because she's not. It's more like rest and relaxation time for her. Plus there's the added bonus of spending time alone with her husband]

It's boring and I've played one too many games of I Spy with the Doctor, but I suppose it's not too much of a bother.

[That catches Romana's attention.]

"I Spy"?

[Nope, she has no clue what that is.]

It's a game from earth.....

Nevermind. It's a distraction he uses. He's not exactly Casanova.

Not exactly... No, I don't want to know.

[There are somethings about the Doctor that are just better to not know.]

Alright, well I'll leave you to get settled in here.
