001: Arrival

[Romana is wandering the secret passageways between the Council Rooms and her Presidential Chambers. Ever since the supposed assassination attempt on her life; from which the Romana of this Gallifrey had, in fact, died; the only time she received time to herself was during these walks.

It was so frustrating that the Time Lords of this Gallifrey were so overly “proper.” It was even getting on Narvin’s nerves and that was saying something. But she had been right about one thing: being called “Supreme Leader” became old, very quickly.

As she walks, she is paying more attention to her thoughts rather than where she is going. It seemed that the "Free Time Virus" had yet to arrive here, but that didn't mean it wouldn't and that is cause for great concern.   She turns a corner and opens the door to her private rooms. So lost is she in thought, that it takes her a full minute to realize that she is not in her private chambers. She looks around the room.]

This isn’t at all where I planned to be. I must have taken a wrong turn.

[It wasn't all that unusual to happen. Although this Alternate Gallifrey is very similar to her own, every once in awhile a subtle difference reveals itself. She walks back to the door, opens it and looks into the hall.  Through one of the great windows in the hall, she can see outside. it looks nothing like Gallifrey.  For starters the sky is a pristine blue, rather than the burnt-orange she expects to see.]

This… doesn’t look like Gallifrey.

[For a moment, Romana is hopeful that perhaps K-9 and Irving Braxiatel had finally sorted a way to get her back to the prime universe. She smiles warmly and runs into the hall.]

Brax!? K-9? I’m here! You did it! You brought me back! And none too soon. Did you retrieve Narvin as well?

[Her face falls as she looks around and didn’t see them anywhere.]

[concerned] Romana... I'm sorry.

[There's a sigh as he rakes a hand through his hair] As far as River goes? It's a long very complicated story. I'd much rather tell you in person. Unfortunately I'm... stuck... right now.

[He chuckles wryly] Yes, well, I'm... still getting used to being married. It only happened recently. [pause] For me, at least.

No. No, of course. No offense taken. What would you like to know about this place? I'll can tell you anything we know thus far.
hulloeverything: (sorry? I wasn't listening)

We've been abducted from various universes and points in time to this place. We've no way to leave and no idea how we got here or who might be in control. We're self governed, mostly by a group called the Peace Patrol that one of my other selves oversees with another person, Yuan. I am involved, of course. I mostly help with the emergency evacuation plans and a plan called Code Blair that focuses on the children of the castle.

If you ask for anything, short of weapons, people or large things like vehicles, the castle will provide it. There's a computer in your room with a very useful floor map in it.

Also... Most here have never heard of Gallifrey, so I'd expect you'd get a great many confused looks if you use your full title, here. There's everyone here from Time Lords to kings to the serpent of Eden. We're all more or less equal where the castle is concerned. Though some of us have taken on more responsibilities than others.

I'm afraid so. I've been here nearly two years, now. It's not as bad as it seems once you get used to it, really.

[He pauses. No... how could she... How could the castle... He sighs, dejected]

The TARDIS. My TARDIS. I have it, here. As does my Fifth self... and it seems that it's your loss. The castle takes something from you when you arrive. A sort of toll, for lack of a better analogy. Mine is the memories of how I regenerated from my Tenth self.

Some lose a memory, some lose an item or the ability to do something. It's like all of a sudden it's gone and nothing can bring it back.

[He sighs] I'm sorry... I'm afraid I can't or we'd all have left ages ago. The TARDII can only travel within this world. We can't leave it or travel through time.

I've spent the nearly two years I've been here trying to figure that out...
hulloeverything: (too school for cool)

Romana forever

Oh no need to worry about that. When you're sent home you'll be returned to the exact moment you left. No one will know you've left and you won't even remember being here.

[Pointedly ignoring that remark yup.]
hulloeverything: (sorry? I wasn't listening)

[personal profile] hulloeverything 2012-02-23 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
What's the last thing you remember before coming here?
hulloeverything: (Twenty minutes...)

Aww 'salright <3

[personal profile] hulloeverything 2012-03-01 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
That's precisely where you'll go when you leave here. You'll return to the time and place where you were.
hulloeverything: (That can't be right.)

[personal profile] hulloeverything 2012-03-02 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh it did... but not quite the kind of reaction he wants to share with her. At least, not yet.]

I know... and I'm sorry.

[He sighs softly] It's been so long since I've thought about E-Space or N-Space or the Axis... so much has happened since then. Did you know the Pandorica isn't just a myth?
hulloeverything: ([fez] smirk)

[personal profile] hulloeverything 2012-03-02 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
[He wasn't surprised she'd figured it out so quickly]

Yes. Yes it is... though I wasn't in there for very long. It's hidden under Stonehenge of all places, by the way. I can tell you the whole story if you'd like, you won't remember it when you leave here.
hulloeverything: (sorry? I wasn't listening)

It's this place. Think of it this way... You know how trans-mat beams scramble your brains a bit, make you temporarily forget a few moments before you were transported? It's similar to that, though it's permanent. There have only been a handful of cases of people remembering their past times here after they've gone and it doesn't seem like they were ever actually sent home, so there's a separate explanation for that, of course.
