[Dairine's attempt to clean her room had lead to an unexpected discovery. It was strange. Almost alarming, if she hadn't been in much worse situations before.

Fine. I'm in Ira Tower, 2113.

[deductiongeek]

[And with that Conan is headed down from the stairs of his tower and then back up the stairs of Ira tower. He knocks on Dairine's door.]

[wizard_redfive]

[Dairine opens the door, gesturing inside. The bed is half covered in clothes, but otherwise the room looks relatively clean.]

Ah, it's you. Come in.

[deductiongeek]

You did say you had something.

[He steps inside and looks around.]

I do. Over here...

[Dairine walks over to her desk and picks up a tiny electrical device. She offers it to Conan.]

What does that look like to you?

[deductiongeek]

[He pulls a handkerchief out of his pocket and uses it to take the advice. After a brief inspection he looks up.]

Its a tracker. Doesn't look like it can pick up audio, so its probably just for location.

A tracker?

[An irritated look crosses her face. It's hardly the first time someone has threatened to track her movements. But Kit and Nita hadn't actually followed through. They probably suspected the truth: that whoever invaded her privacy in such a way would seriously regret it.]

I found it on the floor of my closet. Which means... [Dairine turns towards the clothes on her bed.]

[Conan eyes the clothes on the bed.]

Any idea who you annoyed?

Annoyed? [She furrows her brow, thinking.]

Well, I pissed off Crowley a few weeks ago, after Valentine's Day. But this doesn't seem like his style.

Can you think of anyone who would want to keep track of your movements? If not we could try setting a trap to draw them out.

Not off the top of my head. But I do suspect this is someone I've met.

[Dairine looks over, frowning.]

Trap them how? By disabling all their trackers and wait until they try to replace them?

You could do it that way. But its usually more successful to use the tracker to trick them into coming out into the open.

And how do you propose we do that?

[deductiongeek]

If someone is tracking you, they will know where you usually move. So we set up a situation where it looks to them as if something is happening with the tracker. Something that they will need to interfere with.

[wizard_redfive]

[Dairine sits down in her desk seat, giving Conan an "aren't-you-forgetting-something" look.]

But if we don't know who's behind it, won't it be difficult to set up an effective scenario? We're not even sure if they're friend or foe.

And that is the challenge, isn't it? When I've dealt with this sort of thing before, there were always more clues to work from.

[Dairine smiles knowingly.]

Its been a while since I had something useful to work on.

I'll bet. Not many people go to kids for help, do they? [Her tone hints that he's less of a "kid" than he'd like her to believe. Yeah... still poking at his secrets.]

Ever worked on tracking devices before?

[deductiongeek]

Not usually. [Not admitting to anything.]

A few times.

[wizard_redfive]

Not even back home? [Still poking.]

So you know their inner-workings and such? Or are you more of a casual user?

[deductiongeek]

Only for little things like lost pets.

[And the occasional witness statement.]

A little of both, I would say.

So the bombs and murder cases are more of a hobby. I see. [She gives him an annoying cheerful smile. Still not giving up on the subject.]

Do you think you could tamper with that then? Trace it back to its source?

No one asks for a kid's help on those. [No, those he took care of by himself.]

Possibly. It depends on how advanced it is.
