THE EVENT HORIZON - DAY TWO

[Something during the night has activated the ship's gravity core. There seems to be no evidence as to what caused it. Everything within the ship remains stable, but the ship itself shakes violently, and deep in the bowels, a ominous rumbling sound can be heard]

No! [ She tries to push him back and reach to take that scalpel from him. ]

[spongetastic]

We have to stay... We're staying. Nobody leaves. [he tries to grab her wrists and hold them still. If she's not careful she's going to get her wish and be stabbed after all]

[heloise]

[ He's just like her. Since he still wouldn't let go of the scalpel, she uses both hand to wrest it away from him, even if it means holding on to the sharp edge. ]

[spongetastic]

[he didn't get sucked through any portals but there was definitely something that touched him. Something that sensed a vulnerability in his mind, cracks that were all too easy to slip through. Peter closes his fingers around hers. He doesn't have super-strength, but he still is probably stronger than her.

He can direct the blade, make it move to hurt her. Not to kill, not yet. But to make her bleed]

This is what you wanted. Don't back down now.

[ Brief lapses of sanity has her feeling afraid, threats turning into sobs. She doesn't want to die, and he can easily kill her if he means to. Her palm hurts as the blade begins to cut. Is this really better? She isn't sure of anything. ]

[spongetastic]

[he jerks the blade suddenly, meaning to cut through her palm. It's a minor wound in the grand scheme of things, but it'll hurt and maybe she'll think twice before asking someone about murder-suicide pacts]

[heloise]

[ Lucrezia shrieks when the scalpel slices her palm, drawing both hands back so she can cover the wound and stumbling back from him. How dare he? Traitor. Those should go to the ninth circle.

She moves back to slap him clean across the face with her bleeding hand. ]

[spongetastic]

[the slap comes too quickly for him to anticipate it, so now there's a nice bloody mark on his cheek. And probably one on his neck, too. He pushes the scalpel onto her]

I'm not helping you. Die on your own.

[heloise]

[ She takes it with shaky hands, still taking the time to process what's happening. He's giving up? Leaving her to die alone? No, she won't let him. ]

Liar! Coward! You said-- [ She can't even recall what his promise was, to protect her? ] You will not leave!

[spongetastic]

[he's not listening to her. He's seen something that only he can see, a vision of something lost long ago]

You're not taking her. You can't! [lost in the vision, he starts moving away from Lucrezia]

[heloise]

[ She doesn't understand what he's saying, then again nothing has made sense since the portal. She grips the knife in her hand, contemplating fight or flight, before turning on her heels so she can sprint away. ]

[have fun stabbing other people, Lulu. Peter's gonna go talk to invisible people now]
