THE EVENT HORIZON - DAY TWO

[Something during the night has activated the ship's gravity core. There seems to be no evidence as to what caused it. Everything within the ship remains stable, but the ship itself shakes violently, and deep in the bowels, a ominous rumbling sound can be heard]

Uhhhh, I don't have a son. The only kid I have is that magic other world baby the castle gave me last year, and she's a girl.

[ She starts to look angry at him saying he has no son, only to be distracted by the mention of a daughter. ]

Elizabeth? You have seen her? Where is she, we have been looking all over. The four of us ought to remain together, and we can be sure their end is quick and painless.

Uhhh no. Her name's not-

[He frowns, confused, looking around, in case someone is skulking in the shadows. Spike likes to do that, right?]

[ She stands, one hand resting over the shredded belly of her dress as she walks towards him, her other held at her side. ]

You, me, Elizabeth, and Henry. I am still searching for our daughter, but we will find her. Then we can find a quiet place to be together.

Maybe a safe place would be a good idea.

[ She smiles wide at him, and stretches out her hand for his. ]

[He is going to die, isn't he? He is going to die and it'll be the queen who does it.

Still, he'll take her hand. Maybe he can get her somewhere out of the way]

[ If he does, he might notice it's shaking. Not subtly, either. ]

I have missed you so. I cried for you down there. Mary thought she could tear our family apart.

[Oh man this is really not comforting at all. He doesn't want to feed into her crazy at all, but if it keeps her marginally stable...]

Well, I'm here now, okay? [He makes a mental note to ask about Mary one day]

[ She keeps walking, clutching at his hand. ]

Have you yet found Elizabeth? I cannot end this until we find her.

No, not yet, but I tell you what. I'll get you somewhere safe and then I'll go looking for her.

[ensorceler]

[ Her grip tightens. There is nowhere safe. ]

No, you cannot leave me. I will not find you again. It has been so long, my love.

[That last part makes him pause in following her]

[Is she even seeing him...if she's seeing someone invisible...]

[ Then with some further thought, distant as she walks, ]

Master Once-ler.

[Henry...she'd spoken that name before, he's sure of it]

...Okay because for a second there I thought you had me mixed up with someone else.

[ The same name for her husband and 'son'! Well, he could have just as easily been Edward. But that would be much less confusing. ]

You wish to leave us?

[Boy does he want to escape this, but he has some sense of loyalty towards her, and he won't abandon her while she's...clearly not well]

No. No, of course not.

[ensorceler]

[ Relief! ]

Do you have a weapon?

Uhhhh no. Fresh out of weapons.

[ensorceler]

[ She offers him a sly smile and releases his hand just so that she can reach into her sleeve, pulling out a thin wire that gleams in a passing dim light. ]

We will find you a proper sword, Majesty, but I suppose until that time you may use this. You would be surprised at the effectiveness of it... With your strength, perhaps you could sever a man's head entirely.

[ S W O O N, my lord. ]

[He stares at that wire for a moment, the question of what exactly she expected him to do with that almost spilling out from his lips. But oh...no. She went ahead and told him anyway.

He stares at it numbly for a second, before responding in a small, nervous voice]

It would be like a squishy basketball.

[ensorceler]

[ She doesn't know what a basketball is, but squishy and ball she does understand, and his analysis makes her burst into giggles. She stretches it until her fingers grip the tips before holding the wire out. ]

Yes! You would make short work of it, to protect our family, would you not?

[Ohgod she is giving him a murder weapon. Ohgodohgod how is he supposed to handle this. He takes it delicately, between his thumb and forefinger, grimacing at it as if it's about to bite him, before carefully pocketing it back]

How about a strong telling off instead?

[ Anne must roll her eyes, but she still smiles a bit, just assuming he's joking. And yes she sure did. For now! ]

If ever there were a mortal man that could command a man to fall over dead and have it be so, my love, I believe it to be you.
