[Gregory House]
There is a little one here who wishes very much to see his "Uncle Gregory," if you have no objections.

[A little while later, the rest of you get treated to the annual "kid got his hands on the journal/notebooks were mixed up" event. The following is written out slowly and with great care, accompanied by a small voice humming a distinctly elvish tune.]

[And if he seems pretty advanced for his age, it's that elvish blood showing through. And, yes, mommy is rather pleased with that.If he's so smart he's creepy, then he's just that much more like her, okay?]

Galadriel and Finrod
I don't. My leg might.
[ And little word puzzles appear on the margins just because he can. ]
Gregory House
[Oh gosh! That looks cool. Mom needs to stop hogging the journal. There's a little insistent whine before markings start appearing around the puzzles. He's not quite up to anything too complex, but he's making progress with the simpler ones.]
Galadriel and Finrod 5ever this lasts
But I can push it back.
[ Hints appear beside a few of the more complicated ones. ]
o7
[There's a soft little 'ah' and, slowly but surely, a few more additions are made.]

I could sing if you'd like, my lady. [That is one very excited tiny voice.]

Yes! Sing! Your voice carries such beauty.
look at me, I stole the symbols from you
♫ Silver flow the streams from Celos to Erui
In the green fields of Lebennin!
Tall grows the grass there. In the wind from the Sea
The white lilies sway,
And the golden bells are shaken of mallos and alfirin
In the green fields of Lebennin,
In the wind from the Sea!♩
well i stole them from the internet so i'll allow it this once

Did I sing it well, Nana? Did I?
[And it's a familiar voice that answers after a deep chuckle.] You sang beautifully, ioneg. You do your namesake proud.
[And then back to the journal- because you can never have too much attention.] Did you like it, my lady?

Dictated for the win
Pulling out Spot, she pulls up a more recent search: Middle Earthian elvish. After picking what looks like the safest choice of dialects, Dairine carefully begins speaking.]
Suil, Finrod. I enethen Dairine.
hover over for translations
The response she gets is very polite, if obviously rehearsed. Someone's mommy has made sure that he knows his manners.]
Ni veren an gi ngovaned, Dairine.
[And then a little more naturally and switching back to Common. Where did you learn Sindarin?
no subject
I learned it here, from books. [And Spot.]
slkfj I actually meant whatever Para's common is, sorry. I was kinda brain dead when I wrote that.
[Ah, he picked up on that, did he? There's a little pause where Galadriel turns to Finrod in surprise, but then she addresses Dairine herself.]
You speak it well for one who has learned only from texts. Had I realized you had an interest I might have offered my time and instruction.
no subject
[Give Dairine a minute to recover from the embarrassment.]
Spot has also been helping. But if you'd like to, I'd be glad to have you as a teacher.
no subject
[No embarrassment necessary. She had to learn it too, once. A long time ago.]
