Hi everyone! Since the journals all got a clean out, I think it's time we make a good guide for all the newcomers to help clear things up! And since I'm a charitable guy with a lot of time on my hands, I went ahead and did it!

THE ~~NEWGUY'S~~ NEWCOMER'S GUIDE TO PARADISA!

1. Welcome to Paradisa! It's a magic castle in a magic world away from yours! You got kidnapped here and you're stuck until the castle takes you home or we find a way out ourselves!

2. Yes magic and sentient castles exist, for you skeptics out there. You get used to it!

3. Everyone is supposed to get a loss! It can be a memory, item or ability! Though I haven't found my loss yet so it's possible that some of us are just too amazing to get one heh heh heh.

4. The castle can give you most things you wish for! Though that doesn't include weapons or giant things or people. We're still working on if it's has biases in stuff like the best bread ever!

5. That room you probably woke up in? Is your room during your stay! If you didn't wake up in a room, look on the doors for a nameplate!

6. The kitchen is on the first floor! Though you can ask the ghost servants for food so I'm still not sure why you'd go all the way down there to get food, but there you go! The clinic's on the second floor! And there's a library...somewhere!

7. Sometimes the castle does crazy stuff! If a person is acting really weird, it's called a loss! I couldn't tell you why it's called that and I think it's really confusing, but when you're in Paradisa you do as Paradisans do! If we go to a different place, that's a world change!

8. No one really knows what we're doing here or why we were picked or why people show up when they do, but I'm sure there's theories abound. I think personally the castle has good tastes- there are a lot of pretty looking people here!

9. Death only lasts two weeks here, but I haven't seen it for myself yet. Kiiinda hoping it doesn't happen that often that I'd have to put it to the test.

10. When you get sent home, your memories get wiped! So don't be surprised if you show up here and there's some beautiful hunny demanding where you've been. Just count yourself lucky that some darling lady has missed you so! Unless of course, her way of missing you is to be violent when you show up again. Also, time works kinda funny here so don't be surprised if your buddy is from the future or the past. It happens!

Well...that's all I can think of so far and ten is a nice number to leave off! But if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask~!

Well, I wouldn't say I'm afraid of you per say...

But? [There seems like there's a but there.]

[a sigh]

Look, I'm not really from your time...I'm from much after. And...

How much have people told you about the future?

I figured you were from the future. And I was told enough to know what happened. I can't remember my brother-that's my loss-but I was told what he did.

[Oh that's a relief because that'd be terrible if he was the one to have to tell her]

Yeah, well did they mention the whole Chosen system to you too?

Yes, I've met Colette. I can't seem to get her to stop calling me Lady Martel.

That's Colette for you. Chances are it'll be awhile before she does.

[a pause]

Anyway, there's two Chosen, one for each world. Colette's the Chosen of Sylvarant. I'm the Chosen of Tethe'alla.

...Oh. Really? [The first thing that comes to her mind is...] But you look nothing like me! [Pause.] ...That did not come out right.

[..Okay he can't help but laugh a little at that. Just what in the world Martel]

No, it's okay. I know it probably doesn't make much sense right now. If you ever saw my little sister, you'd see the resemblance more, I'm sure.

I'm sorry. It's...it's all very strange to me sometimes. I was told my brother did all this for me because he didn't want me to die, when I can't even remember I have a brother.

[She sighs.]...I don't want to be a Goddess.

And I don't want to be a Chosen.

[A brief pause and then his own small sigh in return]

Look, I know this is all really strange for you, especially if you don't remember Mithos at all. And I know now that you're not a Goddess or to blame for anything that's happened to either worlds. I don't even want you to feel guilty for the things Mithos did or any of the consequences from that, because it's not right for someone innocent to take on the sins of the...well, brother in this case. It's not like you choose to die or even wanted to die, it just happened and it was Mithos who made the choices he did.

Yet...at the same time, I got twenty-two years of hearing about how my life is this way because of the Goddess Martel deemed it so. And even if it's not true, it was always easier to blame a Goddess for all the bad stuff that happened...so it can be hard to shake that sometimes. Because...well, you're right, I'm not like you or Colette. Not just in looks either, I...I'm petty, I'm selfish, I usually think the worst of people first and...even today, if it really came down to it I'd still probably choose to save myself or the few friends I got over a world of people that's given me nothing.

So it's not really that I'm afraid of you or I'm mad at you, it's just...well, I don't know how I feel about you. No one warned that you'd show up here, so I'm still working things out.

[There's a pause, as she gathers her thoughts. It's time for a speech, she thinks.] Being a Goddess...you can't help people. Not the way I want to. You can't get close to people, help them in the small ways that really mean something. They can only pray to a statue that maybe looks like the goddess, and have faith that everything will go all right. And when it doesn't, well... You said it already.

I don't want to be like that. I don't want people to live in fear or think I'm inapproachable. I want to help people, and you can't do it by being a Goddess.

As for you, Zelos, I don't think you're like that at all. If you were truly selfish and truly a bad person like you say, you wouldn't have even bothered to explain anything to me. You say you think the worst of people, and yet, here you are, telling me about yourself and you've only talked to me once. You say you'd rather save your friends than a whole world that doesn't care about you, and well... Not everyone can be me, Zelos. Not everyone can want to save the world or care about people who they've never met. Most people don't. Sometimes I even have trouble. So, I don't think any less of you.

[a long pause at that; it gives someone alot of think about hearing that sort of stuff. Especially when it all makes her seem so...human? Half-elf? Oh who knows what the right term is]

...Heh.

Can see why they missed you so much.

[She smiles a bit.] You can? Sometimes I wonder why I'm so special, why he...loved me enough to destroy my world, the world I wanted to save.

Yep. But...that much I couldn't tell you, really. [He's messed up for a Chosen but not THAT messed up] The reasons behind Mithos's choices are lost even to me.

I wouldn't expect you to know, either. But I should stop worrying about it. I can't remember him, nor can I change what he did. I'm dead now... on Aselia. It's up to someone else to carry on my work.

Yeah...don't worry about it! The world's our problem now, not yours. Just enjoy your time here now.

I already am, thank you. It's like a second chance at life, no matter how uncertain it is.

Not like the first chance is that certain anyway.
