I am sorry to be, once again, the bearer of ill-news, but Master Frodo Baggins has decided to
depart to the Dead Zone. He has left in my care letters addressed to each of you; you may come to my rooms, number 304, at your leisure. Or I will deliver them to you, if you would prefer it.

[Those who know about the One Ring (and filtered away from Bilbo Baggins)]

It is entirely possible that we have not yet met. [Especially since she’s doing this, in part, to find out how many of you there are] I am the Lady Galadriel of Lothlórien, friend and ally of Master Frodo Baggins, if that means aught to you. [Hopefully it does. It should, but with recent castle events, she can't be certain.]

We should speak.

[Oh. She laughs a little under her breath. With all that has been going on, she forgot to adjust her filter to account for Legolas.]

[Spike already knew that Frodo was leaving, having run into him on his way out, but actually writing him a letter... that's unexpected. Although he's guessing it's got something to do with that second filter, which gives him an even longer pause before responding.]

Sure. I'll stop by.

[At least she hopes she's filtering to the right person. She only invited three to visit in person and of those three Spike is the only one she doesn't know.]

[Even agreeing to, he's reluctant to follow through with meeting her. It bothers him how anxious he is to hear what she knows with how conflicted he's been the last couple of weeks. Part of him comes so that she can help to track Frodo down, and the other is restraining himself from the temptation. Maybe it's putting himself too far out there, but he owes it to the hobbit to at least see what he had to say.

Regardless, he goes through two cigarettes by the time he reaches her door and gives it a single knock.]

[She answers the door promptly (even a single knock isn't easily missed by Elven ears) and with a polite, albeit somewhat distant, smile.]

Spike, I presume?

[gottaknockhard]

[He nods, standing there so quietly that it may look like he's simply waiting for her to pass him the letter so he can be on his way.]

Yeah. [Sensing that this behavior might come off as shady, and sort of rude (if he has the ability to gauge these things), he adds--] I was a friend.

I assumed as much.

[She's not sure if she thinks it's shady, but she certainly does find it a bit odd. Well, she can just give him the letter if he likes, but she's going to politely issue and invitation anyway. She steps back from the door a little and gestures inside.] Would you care to come in?

[He stands there for a moment, looking like he's about to decline, then nods and steps inside. Only then does he get close enough to notice how tall she is. Frodo must have had a sore neck spending time with her.

Before he could get accused of staring, he glances around her room. Maybe checking to see if they're alone, or just looking for a place to sit. He doesn't say anything so it's hard to tell.]

Lady Galadriel

...Whatever would he have to say to me?

I did not ask. But he is a kind soul and I can only imagine that he wished to leave you his regards.

Lady Galadriel

How strange, as he never took a care for my thoughts before.

[ Deadpan. Even now. She can be pro. ]

I will accept it, in any state.

Queen Anne

In that case, perhaps he wished to express his regrets. [Just a little defensively.]

Would you care to pay me a visit or shall I come to you?

Lady Galadriel

Your quarters are well and fine, and I feel no fault in a walk. I will arrive shortly.

Queen Anne

I will be waiting.

Galadriel

The Dead Zone? [Bilbo's heart began to race. Had he left because he wanted to or had the castle made him? Now, Bilbo was the only hobbit left within the castle it seemed.]

May I come to your residence, my lady?

Bilbo Baggins

Of course. You are always welcome, Master Baggins.

Thank you, my lady. [It doesn't take him long to find Galadriel's room and he knocks twice. He swallows thickly and tries to make himself look as smart as possible.]

[Galadriel opens the door and offers him a soft smile.] Master Baggins. Won't you come in?

[She steps back from the door, gesturing into a sitting room, sparsely but elegantly decorated, mostly in the greens and golds of Lórien.]

Thank you, my lady. [He bowed to the tall elf queen and tried not to blush so much.]

This is very good of you, my lady. To invite me into your home. [Bilbo was in awe of how it looked. He really did love how the elves decorated their homes.]

Would that it were truly my home. Were we in Lórien, I could host you more properly. Alas, for the moment, this must do. [She gestures toward a couch.] Please, make yourself comfortable. I will only be a moment.

[The letter is on her desk, you see, and she has to go and fetch it.]
