[Maladict really isn't in much of a better mood. She's tried to focus on other things, however, to keep her mind off wanting to punch certain stupid people in the face multiple times. She's sitting in the dining room, sipping a cup of coffee, doodling vague turtle shapes in her journal as she dictates]

Does anyone else find their attitude towards going home changes the longer they stay here? Not exactly contentment, but...I don't know. Almost a sort of familiarity? I wonder if that just comes naturally after getting used to this place, living here for so long, or if it's something the castle itself is doing to our minds. Trying to lull us into a false sense of security. Make us want to say.

[Though she's still homesick, though she misses the Disc and have people understand her culture and her way of life without having to explain it...she doesn't feel the same drive to leave as she once did. She doesn't like it, it's worrying]

We didn't move much at all when I was a kid. Ancestral family home, and all that.

We never had the time, we had to head straight towards the war.

What were you fighting for anyway?

Some stupid reason they made up. Turns out my country likes to fight for the hell of it. Marital government.

But you fight. [ Regardless of war being for a "proper reason". ]

But I fight. Trying to keep the body count as low as possible. Trying to find a more peaceful way to end it all.

You always seemed like a damn good soldier to me.

I'm wondering if our military differ in attitudes. What was your Sargent like?

[She pauses, considering some terms that explain Jackrum]

Fat, loud, and very, very clever. Couldn't ask for a better man to lead us.

Think he or anyone else from your world will ever show up?

I doubt it, I've been waiting for a long time for them to show up, and the only one who has didn't stay for more than a month. Guess I'm doomed to be a lone wolf forever,

[ A measured pause. ]

It's fine, Kate, really. I have people here, sure it's not much fun being the only person celebrating the holidays of my world, but I can cope. I could be in a worse state.

Then I'm glad it doesn't weigh you down.

Nah, there wouldn't be much point in it anyway. Whining and crying about it won't make any difference.

Good for venting, not so much for productivity.
