What kind of species exist in Paradisa? I know we're all not human - [ elena isn't ] - but that hasn't affected the way we co-exist, has it?

[ she's been hearing things about talking ponies which do not exist in her world as far as she knows. considering mystic falls is rich with vampires, witches, werewolves and doppelgangers, elena's not new to the rainbow civilisation. she thinks this might help her settle in just a little more; see how special everyone else is and see how ordinary she is in comparison.

Are there any species that are no longer here?

I'm buying getting myself a new diary. I know it's late, but my other one ... I feel like I should keep this tradition up. So, I was wondering if anyone wanted one?

I am not sure you should... call them species. More like the peoples of different worlds. Some are still represented, others are not. In which case, there is a large amount. Even I have not met everyone here.

Oh, I should apologise, then. I didn't mean any offense. It's just how they are in my world. [ wow, not winning any points here, elena. ] Who have you met? I only know of a few people and I was just curious to know if some of the legends back home were realities here.

I suppose some of them might be. No one I have met has been a 'legend' in my world, but then as I have found my world is somewhat obscure in the scheme of things.

I'm still getting used to how things can be so similar and yet so different between everyone.

Where are you from?

A place called Shurano. So far, no one else but myself has heard of it.

I wish I could break the chain, but this is the first time I've heard of Shurano. Is anyone from there here with you?

No, I am the only one. Frankly, I am... glad for that.

Why?

If you don't mind me asking. I have friends here and I find it ... I'm torn. It's both good and bad having family here.

Because I know my people are being taken care of in my absence if people I know directly are not here.

Do you think time moves on while we're here?

[ elena had been hoping for the opposite. ]

I think... it might. It must, in some respects, I think. But if we are simply send back to the time at which we left, we have a chance to change the march of history that once suffered our absence.

I'm hoping⎯this is something I want to do. Change things, if I can. But my friends are from the future. And if I go back home to change things⎯

I wonder if it's possible to go back home and change things.

The future... is not concrete. It is malleable from the past's perspective.

You think it can change? Even if my friends are from the future and say certain things happen?

I know it can change. It is what everything depends on, back in my world.

Your world has time travel? [ probably misinterpreting, but her interest has been piqued. ]

No, I simply am aware of my world's future - and I would see it be different.
