14 - fury of the night - action

[Along all the other miscellaneous spooky noises and mysterious happenings, there's the sound of soft scratches on the floor. You might move closer, or farther away, but either way, it stops. And then, in the darkness, just out of light's reach, there's a pair of bright yellow eyes. If you come closer, it goes away, before coming back in another spot. If you move away, it seems to follow you.

After some time, the eyes disappear, too, and there's a very eerie silence where it seems the thing haunting you must have left.

And then you turn around, and holy shit it's a dragon.

Actually, there's been a dragon here for the past seven months or so, but it looks like some people will have to find that out the hard way.]

[And there's a 7'8" armoured man walking around. He pauses as he notices those eyes, but, with his flickering night vision, he takes it as a sensor ghost.

Hello?

[There's a pair of eyes staring at him a few strides away. Even with night vision, it's pretty difficult to make out black against black.]

[Especially with it constantly flickering and giving static. Very annoying.]

Hey, I'm not going to hurt you.

[He takes another step towards those eyes]

[forbiddenfriend]

[They don't move. A low, draconic rumble comes from them.]

[Well, that's new. Jorge pauses.]

Uh... [He doesn't know what to do]

[forbiddenfriend]

[The eyes linger on him, then suddenly flit away.]

H-Hey! Damn.

[Well, whoever it was seemed perfectly comfortable in the dark, so...

Jorge just continues walking in his uneven stride]

[forbiddenfriend]

[Do you hear the scratching of nails against the floor behind you, Jorge?]

[noblefive]

[He does! He turns around quickly, trying to track that noise!]

[forbiddenfriend]

[They're gone!

Actually, now everything is suddenly... eerily quiet.]

[noblefive]

I don't like this... [Jorge mumbles to himself.

He stands, looking around, before his night vision cuts out again. Jorge swears lowly, but explosively.

...Well, he is in the navy]

[forbiddenfriend]

[When his night vision decides to work, again, it flickers, and--

holy shit there's a dragon right in front of him.]

Woah!

[Jorge takes a quick step back, startled.]

[forbiddenfriend]

[Toothless just tilts his head, seeming as innocent as can be. Why so surprised, spaceman?]

It's, uh... Not a good idea to go slinking in the dark.

[He's not too sure if the dragon can talk, or even understand him]

[He snorts lightly in response. Was it so strange for a dark-colored, nocturnal creature to enjoy the darkness?]

[Jorge's night vision flickers again, this time cutting out for a whole 20 seconds, leaving the big human blind.

And, he swears. Loudly.]
