14 - fury of the night - action

[Along all the other miscellaneous spooky noises and mysterious happenings, there's the sound of soft scratches on the floor. You might move closer, or farther away, but either way, it stops. And then, in the darkness, just out of light's reach, there's a pair of bright yellow eyes. If you come closer, it goes away, before coming back in another spot. If you move away, it seems to follow you.

After some time, the eyes disappear, too, and there's a very eerie silence where it seems the thing haunting you must have left.

And then you turn around, and holy shit it's a dragon.

Actually, there's been a dragon here for the past seven months or so, but it looks like some people will have to find that out the hard way.]

[There's a light scratching against the floor, and given the castle's tendency to make things scarier then they seem, the sounds are echoing against the hallway, both making the scratching seem louder and belonging to something heavier than it seemed, as well as making it sound that there was more than just one. Almost as though he's being circled by a bunch of monsters.]

[inside he might be freaking out. Was this what it was like for Red in Lavender Tower?]

I'm not scared of you! In fact, I'll show you how not scared I am! Go, Explotaro! [he'll take out a Pokeball and release his Typhlosion, who just gives him a look as his fire gives off more light]

[And there's a 7'8" armoured man walking around. He pauses as he notices those eyes, but, with his flickering night vision, he takes it as a sensor ghost.

until it happens again]

Hello?

[There's a pair of eyes staring at him a few strides away. Even with night vision, it's pretty difficult to make out black against black.]

[noblefive]

[Especially with it constantly flickering and giving static. Very annoying.]

Hey, I'm not going to hurt you.

[He takes another step towards those eyes]

[forbiddenfriend]

[They don't move. A low, draconic rumble comes from them.]

[Dairine is walking through the halls, aided by her magical light, when she hears a noise. One much closer than the other creepy noises.

She stops, looking around for the source.]

[forbiddenfriend]

[There's a quick blur of color as the eyes retreat into the darkness.]

[Dairine frowns.

With a little tap, she increases the brightness of her spell and follows after the movement.]

[But it seems they're gone.

Well, moved, at least. There's a soft, heated breath on the back of Dairine's neck, and a quiet, gentle croon that just barely breaks the silence.]

[He sees the eyes from up ahead, and pauses mid-step. He's immediately wary, too, with all these creepy shenanigans, and suddenly he realizes he CAN'T SEE IT WITH EAGLE VISION and he is immediately panicked –– why the hell can't he use Eagle Vision?

And when he turns around to find it behind him, the FIRST thing he does is put his hand to the hilt of his sword and draw it.]

Back, beast!

[Toothless is actually a bit alarmed, taking a step back and looking at Ezio with wide eyes. It's been awhile since someone's taken a sword out on him, and he's forgotten that some people aren't so cool with dragons.

He watches Ezio, a bit tense, now not moving forward or back. The thrum that comes from the dragon is rolling, almost melodic. He knows better than to start baring his teeth and growling, but, prideful creature he is, he's not going to submit, so he can only hope his soothing tone will help convince Ezio he's not a vicious animal.]

[assassino]

[He notices how startled the dragon is, with that step back, and he's surprised to hear not a growl, but some sort of purr. Ezio steps forward, lowering the sword but keeping it in-hand.]

A... dragon?

[forbiddenfriend]

[It's when he steps forward that the growling starts. It's not a very loud, aggressive growl, but more of a softer, nervous one, as his eyes linger on the sword.]

[Rookie's been following shadows for most of the evening, so when he sees a pair of eyes staring back all of a sudden, he stops.]

... Hm? [Carefully taking a step forward and moving that hand to his pistol, though for more reasons of caution than because he actually planned on using it.] Someone there?

[forbiddenfriend]

[Toothless has no idea what a pistol is, so he doesn't feel threatened, like he did for a few moments earlier in a confrontation with another resident. He skirts away to the side, the yellow eyes flashing away as he moved before disappearing, allowing him to meld into the darkness.]

[Having his night vision at a less than optimal working condition, meant Rookie couldn't figure out where the curious pair of eyes disappeared to. Which made his senses go on high alert for the slightest movement as he gingerly moved his helmet back and forth. Trying his best to strain his eyesight to figure out just where the thing went.]

[As Rookie's night vision flickers, he might just see the outline of something quite large skirting past him. There's a soft sound where leather rubs briefly against Rookie's armor on his legs.]

[ Not being able to see means that the sudden dark doesn't bother him, but the noises the castle is making.

Those do.

Duke hears the claws scraping and slows his walk, the flickering golden lines of a held spell straining to grow a little brighter as he acts like he can see. Mostly trying to pinpoint the sound of claws, but it's a bit hard with all the other sounds the castle is making. ]

[The scratching sounds die away, and there's a brief period of silence. And then, they resume, slower, circling Duke. If he can strain his ears enough, he might hear the snuffling of a creature trying to pick up his scent.]

[ Duke tilts his head to the side, and slowly shifts ever so slightly to try to match the circling movement. He doesn't go so far as to circle with the noise. and it takes a moment for the sounds of sniffing to register over claws and castle creaking. ]

...taking advantage of castle distractions?

[The voice causes the snuffling to quiet, before there's a light croon of response as the nightfury steps forward, nuzzling his muzzle into the man's hand.]
