14 - fury of the night - action

[Along all the other miscellaneous spooky noises and mysterious happenings, there's the sound of soft scratches on the floor. You might move closer, or farther away, but either way, it stops. And then, in the darkness, just out of light's reach, there's a pair of bright yellow eyes. If you come closer, it goes away, before coming back in another spot. If you move away, it seems to follow you.

After some time, the eyes disappear, too, and there's a very eerie silence where it seems the thing haunting you must have left.

And then you turn around, and holy shit it's a dragon.

Actually, there's been a dragon here for the past seven months or so, but it looks like some people will have to find that out the hard way.]

[And Dairine jumps, ready to say the last word of an attack spell--

When she recognizes that crooning sound. Slowly she turns around.]

Toothless?

[forbiddenfriend]

[A small croon of greeting as the dragon moves its head forward, gently flipping her bangs.

It's how he says hello.]

[Dairine laughs in relief.] Toothless!

[Hope he likes hugs, because a hug is what he's going to get!]

[A soft purring-like trill comes from the dragon as he closes his eyes, leaning a bit into the hug.]

[Dairine rests her head on Toothless’s as she hugs him closer. She was so worried about you last time, buddy. ;_;]

Oh Toothless, it's good to see you.

[forbiddenfriend]

[He stays there, his warm breath rippling down her back. He's somewhat cool-- definitely too cool for a mammal-- but warmer than a reptilian. Also, much, much warmer than when Dairine had found him outside.]

[One of the various joys in her work is that Dairine has experience hugging many different kinds of species. Many shapes, sizes, body temperatures… Although the physical feeling is never quite the same, the sentiment always is.

After a moment, Dairine moves back to arms length and smiles.]

Back to your regular size I see.

[forbiddenfriend]

[He gives a pleased hum, eyes closing as he dips his head in a nod. Being little him again wasn't particular unpleasant in itself, but the unnatural things that happened like that always disturbed him. Being in his own body was good. natural.]

[Little Toothless was cute, but yes. It's much better to be yourself.]

That's good. Wouldn't want the castle messing around with you for long.

So, what're you up to, Toothless?

[He gives a thoughtful thrum in response, looking down one of the dark hallways. He was, perhaps, one of the few who actually enjoyed this event.]

[Dairine looks down the hall.]

Going for a walk in the dark?

[He dips his head in affirmation, bringing his eyes back to Dairine. With the darkness surrounding them and only Dairine's light to illuminate the area, they practically glow.]

[Dairine watches at his glowing eyes with some interest.]

I suppose you would have night vision, wouldn't you?

Mind if I come along?

[forbiddenfriend]

[His head fins raise up to show his interest, a high-pitched hum coming from him. He wasn't really going anywhere or doing anything (besides cramped hallways and scaring people), but sure! He takes a random direction and begins to walk at a steady, slightly bouncing pace.]

[And Dairine walks beside him, her light bobbing up and down between the two as they explore.]
