14 - fury of the night - action

[Along all the other miscellaneous spooky noises and mysterious happenings, there's the sound of soft scratches on the floor. You might move closer, or farther away, but either way, it stops. And then, in the darkness, just out of light's reach, there's a pair of bright yellow eyes. If you come closer, it goes away, before coming back in another spot. If you move away, it seems to follow you.

After some time, the eyes disappear, too, and there's a very eerie silence where it seems the thing haunting you must have left.

And then you turn around, and holy shit it's a dragon.

Actually, there's been a dragon here for the past seven months or so, but it looks like some people will have to find that out the hard way.]

[He lifts the sword again. God, this thing is huge. He has no idea how he'd possibly cut it down. Ezio steps back again, swallowing hard.]

Now... I've heard some dragons are kind... but with a sound like that...

[Toothless throws a pointed growl and look at the man. He was pointing a goddamn sword at him, and you want him to just come up and start nuzzling you?

Toothless' patience with sharp weapons is exceedingly short, so he's going to suddenly lunge out with a snarl, turning his head and biting onto the sword and tugging.

Maybe he'll show you what a nice dragon he is after he's removed the threat.]

[Ezio has never fought a dragon and is in fact very taken off-guard by this, so he lets Toothless take the sword, and then he takes a few fast steps back.

Whoa...]

[forbiddenfriend]

[Well, that was easy. With one swift motion, he tosses his head back, flinging the sword into the wall behind him. It clatters noisily to the ground.

And then he looks at Ezio. Do you want to try anything else?]

[assassino]

[Nope, hands up in the air.]

You wouldn't happen to be one of those talking dragons, would you?

[forbiddenfriend]

[He's watching Ezio carefully, trying to decide how he should react. After all, he does feel a bit devious, especially after Ezio had threatened him...

So he boldly comes closer, a light rumbling in his throat that could either be that purring-like sound, or a growl, deciding to ignore his question completely in favor of unnerving the hell out of him. He hopes he hasn't lost his touch after being "tame" for the better part of a few months.]

[assassino]

[Ezio steps back, rapidly]

Easy now! Easy. I won't slay you if you don't try to devour me.

[forbiddenfriend]

[Bold words from a guy facing down a nightfury! Toothless makes sure to get him right up against the wall and get close to his face, just to make extra sure he gets the point.

He lets out a snort, and the warm breath goes right down Ezio's collars.]

[assassino]

[He is bold! Really. Even when he's making grimace-y faces and tensing up in case he is eaten. He reaches to touch Toothless on the nose.]

Nice... play nice...

my bad!

[forbiddenfriend]

[Toothless stays still for just a moment, then snaps at Ezio hand with a snarl. He doesn't actually bite it or even nip it, but he felt the need to underline his disapproval.]

[He withdraws that hand fast.]

No? We are out of options, then...

[forbiddenfriend]

[He feels he's gotten his point across now, and giving a snort, he finally backs away, allowing the growls to die down. After a few moments of consideration, he steps aside, allowing Ezio to go retrieve the sword if he so desired, but the pointed look said he shouldn't try anything else.]

[assassino]

[Ezio can't really leave behind Altair's sword, so he edges along the wall to retrieve it, eyes on Toothless the entire time. Once he has it, he sheathes it, keeping one hand up in front of him in surrender. Do dragons even understand that? He doubts it, but it makes him feel better.]

You're a strange fellow.

[forbiddenfriend]

[The sound he elicits from Toothless is nothing short of incredulous.

You just pointed a sword at a dragon. Quite frankly, Toothless thinks you're lucky to still have all your limbs intact.]

[assassino]

You look a bit like a large, hairless cat.

[forbiddenfriend]

[You ready for this, Ezio? Because the nightfury is 'speaking' by manipulating his growls and thrums into coherent words. Fairly mangled words, but still coherent.]

Rragun.

[assassino]

[What. Ezio stares for a moment.

Well...]

Rag-un? Dragon? Yes, I figured that, but you look almost cat-like.

[forbiddenfriend]

[Well, for a relatively short period of time, he had a cat friend, and he was pretty cool, so he supposes that's a compliment.

He lets out a slow, soft snort, staring down the assassin. He's going to have to do better than some light flattery if he wants to get on the nightfury's good side after that mishap.]

[Ezio is not sure how you're supposed to talk to a dragon.]

Do you have a name, Dragon?

'Foofthreths.

[His name is difficult to say even after having practiced for a few months now.]

[what, how did you even-- this face, just. this face so hard.

he hates talking forever.]

No? That's not it?

[Ugh, guess we'll try this again...]

[He shows his gums to demonstrate. --oops, teeth are still out because he's annoyed. He withdraws them with a quiet 'shink!']

Tooth... less? [Oh, NEAT, this dragon has retractable teeth. Ezio peers at his mouth, wondering how a creature could do that. It's like cats and their claws.] Toothless, hmm?
