[Out of all the spooky things happening today, there is one thing that really bothers Dairine. So her voice has a slight edge to it when she addresses the journal.]

So… it snuffed out the sun. Or at least effectively did. This certainly puts the castle at a new low.

Well, let’s hope it’s temporary. Having the sun go out is not an experience I personally wanted to repeat. Too bad we can’t go off planet and check on it. [Mutter mutter grumble]

Anyway, if anyone needs it, I have a light set up.

[Dairine is heading towards the lobby and ballroom, with a small glowing bluish light floating next to her. She might not look it, but she’s on high alert, just in case the castle decides to stop playing around. Approach with caution.]

Eru Ilúvatar is the Elvish name for the Creator. The titles mean "the one" and "All-Father" in my native tongue.

Lady Varda is among the Valar, who sprang from his mind and work his will in Middle-Earth. She is the most highly revered by the Elves, for it was she who kindled the stars and set them in the sky. Elbereth, she is also called.

Galadriel shall receive her gift in person then. :3

Sounds familiar. [Not that she's surprised. The wizards' creation story appears in different forms throughout time and space.]

Shall we say Dairine hasn't recieved hers yet either, then?

The One is the name wizard’s use for the Creator of the universe. Under the One are the Powers that Be, what you call Valar. Different names, but the same story. That’s not too unusual.

Wow. Reading about the Powers that Be, it's almost the creation story in the Silm exactly

Indeed? How deeply does the likeness run, I wonder? Tell me, if it will not trouble you over much, have any of these Powers that Be fallen in to Darkness?

[Dairine frowns.] There is one. The Lone Power, the Ravager, Starsnuffer. I know It well.

Oh, yeah! I have something for you too! [She had thought it'd be better, well, at least more personal if she gave the gift herself. So Dairine had held onto it.]

Shall we meet, then? It might bring light to this dark day. [Less so the gift than the company.]

I am outside the castle at the moment, but mayhaps we should meet in the lobby? You might make yourself more comfortable there.

Sounds good. I'll be there in a bit. [First she has to swing by her room and get the gift.]

[And Galadriel has to swing by her own and pick up hers. But it won't take long and when Dairine arrives, she should find Galadriel sitting on one of the couches with a simple candle illuminating her. Not all of us have awesome magic, after all.]

[It takes her a little while, but eventually Dairine walks down the stairs with her a point of light floating next to her. Teleporting might be faster, but right now she’s reserving her energy for more important spells.

Once she notices Galadriel, Dairine smiles slightly and walks over.]

Greetings.

Greetings. Will you not sit? [She gestures at the couch next to her, not that flustered by that point of light. She knows Dairine is a wizard, after all, and she has seen Gandalf use similar measures.]

Thank you. [Dairine sits down next to Galdriel. Reaching into her jacket (Hey, it's cold today), Dairine pulls out a small box wrapped up in silver wrapping paper.]

[And Galadriel holds out a small parcel wrapped in gold.]

Shall we?

[Dairine nods and hands over the gift.]

[And Galadriel will do the same, pausing to check for a nod of the head or some other indication. Shall they unwrap at the same time, or would Dairine like to go first?]

[Dairine will go first, if only because she's the young and impatient type.

But she's not entirely rude, so she'll ask first.]

Of course. [And when she does unwrap it, she'll find a small leather-bound journal, decorated handsomely. Inside are Galadriel's handwritten notes on what she has learned of the various kinds of magic she's observed around the castle.]

[Dairine is just... awed. She got lots of books this holiday season, but none of them were this fancy. It's impressive, to say the least.
