First Snowflake

[The lobby has an unexpected visitor this afternoon, though she might be easy to miss. A tiny little girl lays curled up on one of the tabletops, tucked next to a book. Two wings peek out from behind her back. She's asleep, but not for long!

The little fairy slowly pulls herself up and lets out a big YAWN as she stretches.]

Using magic last night made me hungry. I wonder what’s for breakfast!

[The thought of food makes her smile brightly. But her expression morphs into confusion as she starts to notice her surroundings. Hopping onto her feet, Sugar walks closer to the edge of the table and looks out across the lobby.]

Huh? This isn’t where I went to sleep…

[About an hour after that filtered message, Zack addresses the journal without a filter this time. His voice is that mix of neutral and tired that marks familiarity of having to bring the 'not coming back' message to people waiting for their friends and loved ones to come home. Such can be life in SOLDIER.]

For those who knew him, Cloud Strife has gone home.

So Gideon's gone. He's probably back home concocting his next scheme or something. Anyway, if you don't know who he is then consider yourself lucky. He's very charismatic, but once you get to know him he can be kind of a jerk sometimes. I guess I won't be needing bodyguards anymore, too.

But enough about that. I have been reunited with Waddles ever since Christmas, so all right with the world once again.

[There's an audible oink that can be heard over the journal]

Speaking of Christmas, I was kind of unconscious for a while and then stuck somewhere, and also things happened? What I'm trying to say is I lost some valuable knitting time, so Christmas gifts have been delayed for a while now. Who wants to make it an early Valentine's Day present instead?

Someone gave me advice once, a long time ago: to do something unexpected. It feels like the last three years have been full of doing unexpected things. I certainly never expected making all the friends I did, or seeing what I've seen. I never expected to fall in love and get married.

And more than anything, I didn't expect to wake up three years later and be content living here. But I am.
