Back home, the kids from Sinnoh and Hoenn had these great things called Secret Bases. They would find empty spaces around natures, like in small caves, giant trees, etc etc. They could decorate their bases and if one kid found another's, the could initiate a little game of capture the flag.

So! Since there are several empty rooms around the castle, I propose we do that, except change two things.

One! We can only use floors two to seven. No towers since that's too much work, and the ground floor is the common area with too much traffic.

Two! All decorations and furniture have to be pillows. Why pillows? It's easier to move if someone decides to move in and toss all those pillows out in the hall.

Whaddya say? You in or what?

[To say that York's been a bit depressed lately would be an understatement, but he's sure he's not the only one. Even those who had managed to sleep through the recent space madness wer picking up negative vibes from everyone else, it seemed, and that was really just no good for anybody. His recent conversation with Carolina had got him thinking, though, and combined with the memories of the hectic giraffe ride after the last expedition, he was really starting to get tired of only being able to fill in a tiny portion of the world map without spending weeks or a month off in the Dead Zone.

There had to be a better solution, and what better group of people to ask than the castle?

Good afternoon, Paradisa. I'm Freelancer York, and as most of you know, we can't just run off and explore this world without making a huge deal out of it, gathering up a caravan and taking several weeks out of our schedule just to get to places we haven't seen yet. I'd like to see that change.

Now several years ago, a couple of people made some tests and determined that steam power and hot air definitely work out there. What I'm proposing is a race.

Whoever can make a vehicle that can run the distance between the Northern Outpost and the Wanderer's Yard in the Dead Zone, faster than a horse and rider going the same distance can walk, will win. If more than one vehicle can make it, the fastest one will win. It has to be able to carry at least four people plus a driver, and the driver has to be someone besides the builder. And enough gear for a camping trip.

But York, you ask. What do I win? Well, since I know how bored you all are all the time, the winner would get an exclusive contract to manufacture vehicles for the Dead Zone with a five-vehicle minimum contract, five thousand Caisos, and exclusive bragging rights.

Let's say three weeks for construction, so your vehicles must be ready to ride on June 8 at the Northern Outpost. We will also be accepting wagers on the outcome, and if you make up a fancy logo and some colors for your team, you might even be able to convince people to cheer for you.

Who's with me?

((OOC post coming soon! I will be away from my computer for a bit so feel free to threadjack!))

[When Arkady blinks, instead of being in his room, he's in a cheap, unworthy room. He makes a noise of surprise before scrambling up from the bed. When he speaks, he speaks with a Russian accent.]

What is the meaning of this? Hugo!

[He grabs up the journal beside him, inspecting it closely.]

Is this some sort of joke?

[The journal transcribes what he's saying and he gasps in surprise.

What if this is Hugo trying to kick him out. He imagines Hugo knocking him out, dragging him to this place, coming up with a device that transcribes...
]

No, no, no. Hugo is not that smart.

[Perhaps Sam is playing a joke on him. He'd be smart enough to come up with some sort of new age device like this...]

Sam respects me too much.

[Finally, he thinks of the man Pippa claimed was at fault for Rosemary's murder. They would probably have the money to have a device like this, have the manpower to knock him out and kidnap him without anyone noticing. He's getting angry, so he grabs the journal and heads out the door to explore, in his pajamas and a bathrobe and barefoot.]

If you are kidnapping me, you are not very smart. You left the door open. I would like to speak with whoever is in charge so I can throttle him.

[ooc: Open over the journal or in person! Feel free to say you found him anywhere except outside.]

I have been thinking a lot about the apparent lack of a military or organization that serves for policing or military purposes. After our more recent adventure, I have come to the conclusion that we need some kind of organization during these types of things. We need a group of people to help keep people calm and to get a headcount of sorts. You know, figure out where loved ones are and whether or not they are safe.

Also, if the castle ever falls under attack, we need to know who can fight and who we need to evacuate. In order for that, we need to have evacuation plans and we need to know where we can find weapons in order to defend those that are unable to defend themselves. We can even offer self defense and various weapons classes to those who might be interested.

[There was no fanfare, no friendly greeting or easing anyone into this particular conversation. It's clear that Adam is determined to create this organization and that he has had some sort of experience with some of the instances that he was describing]

I would like to get a list of those who would possibly be interested in participating in this, then work on setting up a meeting to better discuss the details and get a feel for everybody's skill sets and expertise.

[After talking to Stephanie, Evan has been keeping himself busy,  trying to find Supergirl. He knew she was likely gone for good, but he didn't want to believe it. He's combed every inch of what's left of the Lewis and Clark, the town, the woods, and even a mile or two out into the Dead Zone, and hasn't found anything. That why he's sitting on the roof tonight, clad in a fancy new suit of armor (though he asked the castle for a G on the abdomen, instead of the A pictured), and he's got his guitars surrounding him, as he plays a tune over the journal, before speaking.]

I...didn't know her as well as I would've liked, and...I'm sure it's obvious to everyone who knew her, but...Kara Zor-El....Supergirl....has gone home.

[Following that, Evan's just gonna sit on the roof, his legs dangling over the edge, as he watches over the grounds and the town in the distance, lost in thought.]

Captain’s Log

I’d add a date, but I’ve no idea what world I’ve landed in, much less how the local time is measured. I know one thing, and one thing only: This isn’t Neverland. Not unless he’s grown more powerful by far since I was here last.

My ship is gone, as well as the rest of the rescue party. With luck, they’ve sailed on, though I fear for the success of their voyage without me to guide them. Not many have gone up against him and survived. I don’t care how much power the Queen and the Crocodile have. My knowledge and sailing abilities are indispensable if we’re to save Henry. They’ll need me.

I don’t recognize this land. I doubt it’s as pleasant as it appears. Magic always comes with a price, does it not? And a land such as this reeks with magic.

I’ll write more when I know more.
