[Have happy childish laughter as Washington is currently watching Carter playing with Riolu.]

Never thought I'd see the kid again with his mother gone. Out of curiosity, how many of you got lucky enough to get a kid back from a previous year with a parent that has left?

Anyone interested in a playdate with Carter and my Riolu, let me know. I'm sure the kid could use some human company closer to his age.

This is actually my third year with Mary and not the other parent. But I had help last year and this year, so it worked out.

Second year with mine, though the first year, his mother was here. Would have never have the chance to meet her otherwise.

I think I'm handling him well enough with the Pokemon. The Pokemon is better than the kid's real mom with children.

Oh, yeah? Well, if your kid needs a playmate I'm sure Mary would love to meet him.

Carter definitely could use more human playmates his age...

My daughter's mom has been gone for a long time but she came back this year anyway.

I guess so... It was nice to see her again.

York's had Laura for a few years now. [Pause.] I can bring down my two. Laura and Jack are six and two.

I know. And I think you and York are thinking on the same page. He's offering the same under a filter. Laura wants to meet my cat.

It's fine with me. Bring them by.

[Carolina chuckles lightly.] We'll bring both of them up.

[Not too long afterward, there's some knocking at Wash's door. York is holding Laura's hand and Carolina's hanging on to Jack. (And hidden somewhere in York's pocket, muted, is Gary.)]

Anybody home?

[Washington answers the door fairly quickly, Riolu and Carter wrestling on the floor.] Hey you two.

[Carolina offers Wash a smile before glancing at the two on the floor obviously having some fun.] Kids, this is Wash.

[She's quiet for a moment, tending to her kinds while thinking over Washington's statement and her own actions during that loss.]

Really, and what's that? [Her tone's guarded, since she's not at all sure what to expect from Washington anymore.]

[Her tone is tight and cold, offset by a shrill giggle as she swaps out kids to change a second diaper. 'Sorry' ain't going to cut it.]

South, we both know that the only reason you didn't is that there are two others that would have likely kicked your ass for it and we didn't run into each other face to face.
