[It had been hard enough trying to meditate with everything that had been going on in the past month or so... and then the journal constantly flipping open to the sounds of children and exasperated parents. Now that the children were gone Flynn decided to give it another shot.

Then his hand started twitching.

So he clasped his hands together, took a deep breath and relaxed...

and his cheek started twitching.

Oh you have GOT to be kidding. He opens his eyes, looking out the window at the trees and sighing.]

That's just a low blow, man.

[Glancing over, he sees his journal open on the nearby dresser. Shaking his head he dictates]

The idea behind losing something isn't a new one. It teaches us to be less reliant on certain objects or abilities. To reach beyond and find deeper strength within ourselves to compensate. But I have to wonder about the reasoning behind the things this place chooses to take from us.

I suddenly find myself unable to meditate.

It's amazing how productive doing nothing can be, at times. That's a rather simplistic explanation of meditation but, yes.

How can doing nothing be productive?

Flynn.

This place is making you lose your logic.

[He chuckles] By doing nothing you allow your mind to drift to ideas and possibilities you wouldn't have thought of otherwise. A relaxed mind is a mind more prone to creativity and philosophy.

How can you be productive if you're wasting that much time, though?

[no, really, from a programmer's standpoint, idle time makes no sense.]

Found out your loss, huh?

So it seems. I have to say I wasn't expecting this one. Of course... I guess it's a bit difficult to expect anything, here.

[A small, dry laugh] That's for sure.

But you're right, about what you said. You just gotta...try to find a way around it. Make up for it another way. Because it's not going to get better.

Oh I'm sure I will. I've managed to adapt to worse. I just find it intriguing that this place finds the need to take something from each person with no real rhyme or reason as to what.

I don't know about that. There seems to be a reason. I mean...whatever it took was important to you, right?

In a manner of speaking, yes. Although it wouldn't be too difficult to learn to live without it.

I'm not sure what the logic is, either. Perhaps t'make us stronger.

[That doesn't explain his own loss, not really.]

That's my thought as well. Of course discovering how we're supposed to become stronger with some of the losses I've heard about is beyond me.

If it doesn't, what use are they?

Take th' positive from it, else you'll make yerself miserable.

Oh I've got a great deal to be thankful for being here. I'm not going to let something as simple as this negate all of that.

Aye. I've more than I'd ever imagined here.

Might I ask what brought ye to these thoughts?

Oh I think I've figured out what the castle has deigned important enough to take from me.

Unless you can think of some other reason why I suddenly can't meditate.

I don't think that's likely. [His tone is apologetic.]

Yeah that's what thought. [He sighs] Well it could be far worse. Of everything it could have taken this is something I can certainly learn to cope with.

You're right. [It could be far worse. Quorra had forgotten Sam. If that had happened to Flynn...well, he doesn't want to think about that.]

Well that just means I'll have to figure something else out. That's not impossible. It's just a new challenge to overcome.
