[as you flip through, there's suddenly a messy stroke of really wet ink on the page of the journal, then the sound of someone picking it up and shaking it a little, making the ink run]

...Whoops. Maybe I shouldn't practice on the desk.

[and then he stupidly rubs it in hopes of getting it to dry faster, smearing ink all over the place]

It's not the worst place to live, I suppose. I wouldn't mind going to Japan, though. I hear beautiful things about Japan.

Yeah. The cherry blossoms are always so pretty at the start of the school year.

I'd like to get there, someday!

America and Japan start school at different times of the year, right?

[bornofwisdom]

I believe so, yes. We typically begin near the end of August, so, summertime. Schools in Japan typically begin in April, yes?

[soccerwhisperer]

Yeah. I heard from Aki's boyfriend that you guys have a spring break around April. Maybe you should visit Japan then.

That's actually an excellent idea! Except that I'm kind of stuck here now, I guess... ( always a downer for everything good. yarg. )

Well, I have heard that people can go back. So, should that happen, I'll have to look into it.

Y--Yeah! I'd like to go back home with a lot of the things I have here.

Have you been here for very long?

A few months, I think.

Oh, I see. I've only been here for a number of days now. It's an interesting change from the norm.

It gets lonely though.

Lonely? Are you without friends? From home, I mean.

[soccerwhisperer]

I don't have a lot of friends, even back home.

[bornofwisdom]

O, oh... ( ...now she's frowning. ) I'll be your friend? What's your name?

So what kind of things do you do for fun here?

I like to explore the castle and pretend I'm not just a middle school student.

( she chuckles ) What's wrong with being a middle school student?

[soccerwhisperer]

It's not as cool as being a spy or a knight, you know? [he laughs]

Oh, I don't know. Being a student can be just as thrilling.
