[Just as before, today finds two new figures standing in the courtyard. They are great figures of the past for some residents. Perhaps their stories can be shared?

In the city, people are talking rather excitedly about an event to take place in the evening. They say a great fireworks display is scheduled, and they can't wait to catch a glimpse of it. It's said to be an extraordinary show.

Will you pay patronage to the elders? Will you grab a seat for the show?]

I haven't seen many people from it, anyway. [Which basically makes him the alien here, but that's weird to think about.] -- Do you know this one?

Nah, although I knew one of the spirits that showed up. [that was awkward]

[That manages to get his interest more than any fireworks.]

Ami Fey. [there's a pause... how do you describe someone like her]

She's the founder of my clan, and the inventor of the Kurain Channeling Technique.

[Hm. It occurs to him that he really doesn't know a lot about Maya. Could be the part of him that tries not to get to know anyone too well. ... Which makes him wonder why he's curious now.]

Oh, uh... [it's a funny thing, Maya doesn't really like talking about herself a lot... at least not things like this that matter]

It's something that all women of the Fey family can do. Well... most of us. We can channel dead spirits.

[Spike's not usually one to ask, but after a year and a half he was bound to slip up somewhere. That sudden knowledge just ends up hitting him in a weird place. -- He'll digest in a few minutes.]

Oh. [...] That's got to be interesting.

[optimystic]

[she shrugs a little] I've kind of grown up with it, so it's not really weird to me.

Although... I've kind of fallen out of practice here. I've kept up my training! But I haven't actually channeled for a few years now. [yeah... thinly veiled discomfort]

[She might not be as rust as she thought if she's talking to him. Even if death is a grey area around here, it'd make a strange sort of sense.

So he won't press it. Seeing as how he came out here to clear his head...]

[she smiles and looks relieved]

Exactly! Besides, I don't know if it even works the same... there probably wouldn't even be any souls to summon.

No. Most of them seem to come on their own.

[and for that she's kind of glad... but she feels bad for thinking that, so she'll just be changing the subject in 3....]

So! What kind of festivals do you have in your world?

[gottaknockhard]

[He shrugs, mostly because he doesn't remember going to-- well, there was that one.]

They had a big parade on Mars around Halloween. I don't know if that counts.

Oh right... [his world is all spacey.... so cool *^*]

It counts! But it sounds like you didn't go?

I passed through it on my way somewhere once. [Oddly enough, he decides to elaborate; he's awfully chatty today.] Parties were usually good places to find a bounty.

[optimystic]

[ooooooooh watch her eyes shine] So you didn't have a job already?

[gottaknockhard]

That's how it started. I didn't cash in on it though.

[He died. That tends to happen a lot with bounty heads, actually...]

Aw, what happened? [;A;]

[There's a pause while he has a nostalgic moment... But he keeps it vague; only old men tell stories like that. Most of his are depressing anyway.]

Someone beat me to the chase. [He smiles slightly, then shifts his focus to their view.] When do the fireworks start?

[optimystic]

[hm, she watches his face thoughtfully, the little moves it makes. She feels like there's more of a story there... but he's not the kind of guy who spills everything, so she won't pry.



Today, anyway.]

They'd better be soon! Or else I'll have to go give them a talking to!

[gottaknockhard]

[It wouldn't do his pride any good if she found out how terrible of a bounty hunter he was, in any case. Although that smile turns more genuine after her response.]

[aw, that smile makes her happy, and she grins]

You better believe it! No one lives to tell the story after Maya Fey tells them off.

Now I kind of hope they're late.

[hehe] Although... wait, who's actually in charge of the fire works?

[He takes a few steps towards the edge to peer down below.]
