[ action ] Equestrian Care Class

 [ For anyone who wanted to take the Equestrian Care Class  here at Camp Demi-God - well, you can come and be part of it, but it's starting early. If you called 9 early, which Vanyel really didn't, but he thought he would be kind the first day. 

But just the first day.

He is standing a bit off from the stables beneath the shade of some trees, Yfandes beside him to act as his partner in the demonstration part of the class. If they needed more, well, there was a stable-full of them not a minute walk that way. She had deigned to roll herself in some dirt this morning so her white coat was a bit dusty - all the better for demonstrating, right? And white was such a hard color to get clean again, you know, so perfect practice! 

Vanyel was sitting beneath the tree atop a tack trunk, journal out.]

Attention Equestrian Care Class Students - I hope you all are on your way. You're late in exactly two minutes.

[Beside him, Yfandes let out the horse equivalent of a laugh.]

[Horses. Alright, he can deal with horses.

He's there on time! Look at him, being a good student.]

_{[Yfandes is no ordinary 'horse', but sure, you keep thinking that.]}

Well, our first student. Welcome. My name is Vanyel Ashkevron, and I will be your instructor. This is my Companion and my demonstration helper, Yfandes.

I'm Stiles. Hellow, Yfandes. Nice to... meet you in person?

Oh, yes, I recognize your voice. And yes, nice to meet you in person.

_{{Yfandes bobbed her head at Stiles in greeting as well, tail swishing.]}

So! Where do we start?

[and leaning against the fence is a young woman with familiar flowing, starry hair. She's definitely not paying attention to the lecture.

There's a slight look of disbelief on her face. Isn't this rather demeaning, Yfandes?]

<sub>[He notices and smiles, nodding to her, figuring this might be Luna with that hair. He had met Fluttershy the other day.

And no, it wasn't. She had offered, and if she could teach young ones to properly care for regular horses, then all the better. To many didn't know how to anyways, and she did so enjoy getting brushed. It was wonderful.]</sub>

All right, now that we have the upper body, we're going to go through the parts of the leg and hoof - pay close attention to those, as that is where your horse can most easily get themselves injured.

[she nods back in greeting and grimaces a bit when she realizes that she's not completely successful at tuning him out. And sorry, but it still sounds demeaning to her. It's harder for her to see the normal horses as a completely separate them, as opposed an Equestrian us.]

_{[Trust her, Luna, it's all for a good cause. Besides, she got a good roll in and now someone is going to clean her. Maybe when you're back in pony form she'll get Vanyel to brush you, you'll see, you'll like it.]}

This soft part of the hoof is called the frog - when you clean the hood, never use the pick against it. It is tender and you will hurt your horse.

[she probably would enjoy it. The problem would be getting past that pride of hers - and the fact that she might focus on the insinuation that she can't keep herself groomed and preened.

Though she does nod unconsciously at his statement.]

Grooming Your Horse

[Super nervous but he really wants to get close to the horses so, he's reaching up as high as he can to try and groom it properly]

<sub>[Oh Havens, what is this? So adorable. Even Yfandes thinks so.

Yfandes snorts and slowly lowers herself down so she sitting , and therefore the child can reach most of her, but not her legs.]</sub>

Why don't we try her mane first? You can help me work out the knots and make it shiny.

Really? [Beams at! He's relieved now that he can actually reach the horse properly. What a smart horse!]

_{[Vanyel smiled and knelt beside him, giving him a comb.]}

We're going to start here -

_{[He took a small chunk of man near her withers and brought the boy's hand with the comb up]}

Brush it gently and work out the knots, just like this.

[Shiki had a boyfriend who was obsessed with horses of all kinds, so yeah. She's gonna be all over the idea of learning how to properly care for them.

...The fact that she's starting with the mane because it's the easiest and she has no idea how to groom the rest of the horse shows initiative, and not anything pathetic, right? Right.]

_{[It's called a class for a reason, and for the moment Yfandes is content to let her work on her mane, though she shifts from time to time to keep Shiki on her toes.]}

Be careful when you find knots - work them out. Just because a horse does not have nerves there does not mean you cannot hurt them.

[What awesome timing! Shiki's just run across a real knot - she begins working it out slowly, almost like she would've worked out a knot in a child's hair.]

Oh, okay... I think I've got it?

[Yup, that's a question. She's doing it right, right?]

Yes, you're doing fine. Just work it out slowly so that you do not pull out chunks of her mane. It want it smooth, not her bald!

_{[He can tell, and he nods, Yfandes bobbing her head.]}

They are doing fine. And I don't worry about them mistreating her - she'll let them know.

_{[He paused for a minute and chuckled.]}

She says a lady would never stand for disrespect.

You are a mind speaker? Yfandes, were you mind-speaking to him?

_{[Yfandes was not, technically speaking, a horse. She only had the form of one, and rarely mind-spoke to anyone but him and the ponies like Luna and Fluttershy. But, perhaps this boy could pick up on her words?]}
