001 - Apostles Creed (Backdated to Sunday morning)

[Connor clears his throat before speaking. He's still not sure about this whole 'talking through the journal' thing, but he's willing to give it a shot. After another moment's thought his smooth Irish brogue flows through the journal.]

So my brother'n I jus' got 'ere last week 'n we were wonderin' if there was a church here. Even'f there's no one givin' sermons or anythin' like that. We'd jus' like somewhere t'go. Haven't had much've a chance t'explore ourselves, yet, so I figured I'd jus' ask.

[Murph speaks up from where he's lounging on his own clinic bed, leafing through the journal] Think it'll work?

[He shrugs, crooking an arm behind his head]

I hope so. It'd be easier than trompin' all 'round the castle lookin' fer one if it's not there.

Aye... place is fuckin' huge. [he flips to one of the pages he found where someone's drawn a map, and waves it at him]

Like I'm checkin' every floor of that with this leg.

[Connor nods. Murph's leg was the primary reason he'd asked. He didn't want to make his brother walk more than he needed to, not when they could get directions]

Aye. Don' worry, we'll find somethin'. Even if we haveta put y'on a little cart an' wheel you around.

[just for that, Murph swipes the bottle of painkillers Carson left them off the bedside table and chucks it at his brother's head]

What, like a fuckin' rickshaw?

[ He just reminded her of how many masses she has missed. ] I can introduce you to Father Abel. He also knows of a Cardinal present.

Father Abel? There's a Father, here? I think I'd like t'meet him, yeah. Thank you.

Father Abel Nightroad. You can address a notice for him using this journal.

Aye, I'll have t'look him up, then. [he pauses] Would I have to broadcast it t'everyone? Or is there a way fer jus' him to see it?

There is a way. [ She seems giddy about getting to teach someone something new. ]

[A familiar Scottish-accented voice is filtering through the journals]

I see you two have learned about the journal system, aye?

[Carsooonnnnn! Murph shoots his brother a grin as he pipes up]

Aye, but it doesn' mean we're exactly used'ta treatin' a book like a fuckin' intercom.

[Connor grins right back]

Aye. Not quite th'same's usin' a phone, now, innit?

Well, you're talking to a man who has barely been able to use a phone in three years, but aye. It's a wee bit odd.

D'you need help on working it?

Well, dunno. It's a book, yeah? All we need to do is read an' write. And talk. ... and I think we can both handle that.

Church...?

[maybe his ears are burning from Lucrezia's mention of his name! the priest has appeared.] --Ah! Yes! Church! There is a church, that's right!

My name is Father Abel, at your service! If you're looking for it, it's in the Satis Tower... hm. You'll probably need directions, so...

[HOLD ON A SEC BOYS he'll scribble you up one quick. here's the lobby... and here's some rather mature little swiggly lines drawing a map out to the Satis Tower church, marked by a cross and... a smiley face.]

[A FATHER?! oh praise the Lord. the excitement on Murph's face at this is almost comical as he hops over to Connor's cot so he can read the journal over his shoulder. yes he has his own. this is easier SOMEHOW, shh]

Thank y', Father. This's perfect. ... [he grins at Connor, amused as hell by the smiley face] We can find our way by this, fair enough, can't we.

I'd hope so! My penmanship isn't that bad, after all... [haha welll he's pleased that went over well enough, anyway!]

[Connor wraps an arm around his brother's back, shaking him with a grin.]

Aye. We'll be up there in a bit. Thanks fer th'directions.

[Closing the journal and tossing it back on the bed, Connor stands, taking Murph with him. C'mon, man, there's a church to find.]

[well! in that case, he'll be sure to be there when they arrive. you know, being all the usual things Abel is, including lounging lazily in the back pews with the Good Book in his hands. come on in, boys!]

There's a chapel in the Satis tower, and at least one more out in town, too.

Thanks. We heard 'bout the one in the castle. There's one in town, too? We haven't had a chance t'get out an' see it, yet.

Yeah, I'm not exactly sure where it is? But I bet the townspeople would know. [He remembers Jilly used to give art lessons there.]

And Father Abel's a good man. We're lucky to have him.

He sounds it, yeah. Thanks. [Murph's interest is definitely piqued at the concept of a church -outside- of the crazy magic castle, and he shoots a look at his brother. sounds like they've got something to go see once they're both a bit more ambulatory]

S'there a map anywhere we might be able t' find it on?

Should be a town map in the library and--if you're familiar with computers, there's a castle map online I update pretty frequently with room numbers. Should be a couple hard copies with the general rooms labeled in the lobby, too.

--Mind if I ask who "we" is?
