Hey guys. Did you know? Paradisa's moon is actually blue... you think I would have noticed that, but I guess I just either forgot, or I just stopped looking at the moon seriously. It's actually really pretty, but if you think about it... why is it blue? Is the moon itself blue, or is it caused by some weird reflection coming off of the earth.
Oh, that reminds me, I can't remember... is the sky blue because it's reflecting off the blue of the ocean, or is the ocean blue because it's reflecting the blue of the sky? I know it's one of the two, but I can't remember which. I was thinking about it while I was watching the sky earlier, and it was really bugging me. So if anyone can help me with that, that would be great.
[but Maya, why have you been sitting here and staring at the sky all day? Well, all of the wishes that she's accumulated over the last three years have caught up with her, and she's been stuck on the roof for pretty much the whole day. Over the course of the day she's slowly inched her way over to her journal, so that's a step in the right direction. But, of course, Maya being Maya, it's not like she's going to admit that her energy is all sapped, so you get to listen to her inane ramblings :) Congratulations]
Another thing, where do constellations come from? People just made them up in older times by looking for shapes in the stars, right? So... doesn't that mean that anyone could make up a constellation? If that's the case, I know what's going to be my next project.
[ooc: feel free to respond either over the journal or in person... if you're hanging out on the roof]

dicatated;
There are always different interpretations for the constellations, depending on what culture you're from, or what world. The constellations in Fiore are probably known by different names and histories in Edolas - but it is true, that they're based off of what pattern the stars make in the sky. Like a map to identify which stars are where.
dicatated;
Sounds like you know a lot about the constellations in your world.

After Maya was done, she would finally talk. ]
You're making a lot of observations today. Bored?
[ She was, too. Well, to be more specific, listless in a way she's never felt before.
Otherwise, she wasn't sure if she would have even started up this conversation. ]

Maybe today will be the birth of Maya Fey, Ace Sky Watcher.

The blue moon does sound interesting, though. I think I might come see it. [ She had never really paid attention to that when she was outside. She might hear the sound of the journal getting picked up and a slight sniffle. ] Are you on the roof?

What light makes it all the way to the ground to light up everything around you is "regular" light, what we think of when we turn on a lamp or go out during the day. That light doesn't really have a colour itself -- it's just bright and lets us see everything properly. But really, that light is actually made up of every colour, but the colours only show up when they bounce off of objects. If you've ever seen a rainbow in a sprinkler or waterfall, or through a prism, you've seen that light can be split apart into all the different colours. All these colours have different wavelengths. That gets a little complicated, but a wavelength determine what colour we see.
The sky is sort of like that prism. There isn't anything up there, really, as there isn't a ceiling between us and space, it's just air. That air is full of molecules of different stuff -- tiny bits of water, or dust, or other chemicals. When the light hits the molecules, the light scatters all over the place up in the atmosphere... and because blue has the shortest wavelength, the light makes us see the air travelling around our sky as blue. As another example, if you ever look at mountains or buildings in the far distance, everything gets a hazy blue tinge, right? That's because you're looking at it through the "blue" air.
Here!
[Doodle:]
Does that make sense?
(And, naturally, this means that the ocean is partially blue because of the sky. The water picks up the blue wavelength too, to an extent, but it's not naturally blue, or else the water coming out of your tap into your bathtub would be blue, too, wouldn't it?)
