Well, I did try to warn some of you that magic always comes at a price. It was only a matter of time before something like this happened. Maybe after this incident you'll be less inclined to just wish everything you want into existence because it's the easiest way. Be glad you don't live on my world, you'd all be up a creek without a paddle surrounded by ravenous crocodiles and perhaps a few rabid sharks by now.
[James Watson]
So, how long precisely are you planning on hiding out there? Because my ability to care enough to cover for you is beginning to wear thin if you continue to be stupid and stay out in the middle of nowhere without any word if you're okay or not.
[Helen Magnus]
[Gods, this is awkward, but with Nikola brooding and James hiding, it was ultimately up to her to keep an eye on the poor woman] So. How're you settling in?

[Slight pause, and note of worry] Has there been word of Nikola? ...or of James? I haven't been able to find anything out about him since I arrived. I know you said he'd stepped out but, it's worrisome.
And of course how are you? Forgive my manners, I am not entirely at my best.
[Helen]
[Boys she is going to punch you both, very hard, for putting her into this situation] James is still...away. But he's fine. And Nikola's still brooding with his pigeons.
Me? I'm just dandy. Can't complain.
[Maladict]
[There was a note of disappointment in her voice at that.] Please pass along my concern if you are able to contact them.
And should you need anything, please call on my anytime.
[Helen]
I will, trust me. And if they don't behave soon, I'll be having very strong words with them.
...Thanks. You know, it's good to have you back. I guess even I've missed you.
[Maladict]
I intend to have my own when they reveal themselves.
I wish I knew our history, but I am glad to have someone here to rely on, I hope I live up to whatever my predecessor has done.
[Helen]
Please do. They deserve it.
I'm sure you can and as for history, well. We've known each other for a while, me being a vampire and all piqued your area of expertise.
[Maladict]
I fully intend to.
A vampire? Good lord, where I am from it is a rarefied breed, Nikola being the last to be frank. It seems there are, as Shakespeare once said 'There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.'
I knew it to be true back home, but there I am rather an expert, here I feel a novice.
[Helen]
Don't worry, you'll find most of the supernaturals around here are accommodating enough to help you figure it all out.
[Maladict]
Supernaturals, the same as what I consider abnormals?
[Helen]
Yep. Or undead, in my world.
[Maladict]
Someday I would like to discuss the particulars of your branch of the Vampiris line, if you were agreeable, of course.
[Helen]
Sure, I don't mind at all. More than happy to, in fact.
[Maladict]
Wonderful, I have a feeling I could learn a great deal from you, and of course there is one hundred plus years of stories about Nikola I could tell.
[Helen]
[She chuckles a little] I always enjoy more fodder I can use against Nikola.
[Maladict]
Oh that I can supply, vastly. Has he told you about the time he tried to kill me?
[Helen]
[Maladict]
[Helen]
...Now the funny stories, those are the ones I never get to hear.
