[he clears his throat, then in that thick Italian accent:]

Hello... my name is Ezio Auditore, and I seek an inventor or mechanic or... esperto of some kind. I have obtained an object of great importance, but I do not know what it does, or what it is capable of.

But I need someone I can trust, someone with the right... sensitivities for this object.

[Wandering in, flipping through her journal. All, you know, three pages or so. Weird.]

Maybe I grabbed the wrong magical journal. Except I only have one.

[Too distracted to notice any Italians at the moment. She knows the path to the fridge by heart.]

[He knows that voice, so he immediately retracts his hidden blade back into his sleeve with a quiet "click"; he doesn't want anyone so see him using a knife to try to pry open the groove of what he assumes is a door. Where's the handle? :(]

Late night meal, Stephanie?

[She looks up from her journal, shutting it.]

Hey, you. That's the plan. What are you up to?

[Sees him, next to that microwave. She'll give him the benefit of the doubt.]

[He lowers his hand away from it, and picks up his journal from the counter as if that was what he intended to do all along.]

Wasting time while waiting for replies from the local mechanics.

[secondchances]

Someone's bound to be up to the challenge. [For... whatever it is. Steph opens the fridge.]

You have any guesses about what it might be?

[assassino]

[He's been guessing for weeks now, but he feels like he's made up his mind.]

I think it's a religious object... perhaps a key to something. The markings on it look like they may fit in something else, but it still looks mechanical, in some sense.

It's confusing.

[Nope, no Lucrezias in the fridge. She pulls out a carton of milk and sets it on the counter, then to the freezer for... waffles.]

Possibly a key to something not very nice? What, though?

[Better he have some sort of key than a bomb.]

[assassino]

[He is grossed our by your frozen food when you can have fresh food all the time.

A key to a vault. He knows it has something to do with a vault, but he doesn't have to tell her that part.]

And what key gives off the aura this one does?

[secondchances]

[Whatever. She likes frozen waffles better than fresh ones. She goes to pop them into the toaster.]

No clue. But there has to be someone here who can help you out. If it's a key, I guess you can just shove it in your closet or something. A key's no good without anything to open.

[assassino]

[He watches her do that, curiously.]

Perhaps that would be for the best.

I still want to see it, though. Don't forget.

[Meanwhile, she'll get a plate and glass out. And be polite.]

Want a glass of milk?

[assassino]

Of course not. I just need to find the right inventor, first.

[Drinking fresh milk straight? Yes please, they don't get to do that shit often at home.]

[She pours him a glass, and then one for herself.]

Here's to hoping your "apple" thing is just a key to something worlds away. [And not. Like. Explosive.]

I doubt it, saccente, but it would be nice.

[He takes his glass. Yesssssss.]

We'll find out sooner or later.

[Ah, the sound of delicious waffles popping up in the toaster.]

[assassino]

[And that startles the fuck out of Ezio, who JUMPS and wheels to face the toaster, spilling his milk everywhere.]

[Steph's not phased by the sound of the toaster, but Ezio's reaction startles the fuck out of HER. While she doesn't spill her milk... she sure does spit it.]

[assassino]

[He realizes, precious seconds after his overreaction, that it's just a toaster. By that time, however, he already has his free hand on the hilt of his sword. The glass is still clutched in the other.

Then he lets his hand drift away from his sword. IT'S SAFE..... ALL IS SAFE...





He feels kind of embarrassed though.]

[secondchances]

[She sees what happened here, now--the toaster freaked him out.

Sorry, sorry! [Doesn't sound sorry with all that laughing.] In retrospect, I should have warned you about the sound. Whoops.

[Sad face :( That was embarrassing. So... embarrassing. Fortunately, he can laugh at himself a bit.]

Why does it do that? All this technology, you could think you could make something that doesn't sound like a weapon being fired.

[secondchances]

To scare the crap out of you, specifically. [Said while stepping over the mess on the floor to get her waffles. :( ]

That is rather cruel...

[And ugh, he's got milk all down his sleeve. Gross.]

[Don't start cackling again, Steph.

She settles for shaking her head as she pulls out her waffles and sets them on a plate. REVENGE FOR ALL THE GODDAMN QUESTIONS.]

[assassino]

[STERN... FINGER... POINTING AT HER.......... YOU LISTEN HERE, MISSY...]

I was startled!

[He starts unlacing his bracer so he can clean it off properly. Ew, milk.]

[She leans her back against the counter as she eats a plain waffle. She's a little soggy herself, and doesn't feel like making another mess with butter and syrup.]

No need to get your fancy shirt in a bunch. Now you have a funny story to tell. [SHE SURE DOES.]
