Maybe it's because I've never had a significant other, but I honestly do not see the point in Valentine's Day. And people have told me in the future it is far more commercialized. If you truly care about someone, shouldn't you show this at every opportunity and not just one day a year?

I understand everyone likes to feel appreciated, but perhaps I'm too logical in this. I think I would rather something personal. But then I've also never been on a date. I have yet to even consider the psychological aspect of an intimate relationship like that.

Perhaps I shall look into that as well. [Because she needs a break between reading biochem technology books and learning computer code.]

No, not really. The main point is to do something special with a significant other. Sometimes friends will do something together so they don't feel lonely or left out.

Are you from earth?

How long have you been here? Where are you from?

[It hadn't even occurred to him that people might not just be from different places but the same place in a different time. His next reply takes longer than the others to be written out.]

I'm from Detroit, 2027.

There are many things the same from the turn of the century to the year I'm from, some very different. Worlds different from 1935 technologically but there is the saying "the more things change, the more they stay the same" or something like that.

[He has to wonder what she would make of his cybernetic limbs and augmentations.]

I have yet to see much technology here. Are there computers? Cell phones? Internet?

[That piques his interest.]

Biomedical technology, like what? Can you give me an example?

Impressive. [He was never good at the science stuff himself. Still, it's not as high tech as he needs.]

Do you have a tutor? Someone you're learning from?
