I feel like it's been awhile since I've had a day to just spend in the library, researching things mainly. [Especially like how to run a school-- or how to fix up a building. Or even how to teach a class. These are all pretty important things.]

So if we are needed, Sunny Baudelaire and myself will be found in the library for most of the day if we are needed or if anyone would care to join us. [Meaning VFD members are more than welcome.]

[Lemony]

This most expressly means you.

ooc: open to action as well!

Now that the last of the debris is cleared and all the machines are fixed, I can safely say the shop is back and running.

[Things have been a little busy with that.]

Anyway-- I was talking a few months back about the school. I know not everyone feels comfortable in the castle, but what if we build our own school? I can do the blueprints. Have about five or six classrooms? I'd need a lot of help obviously, but I think we can do it. Bit by bit.

Well it seems Paradisa is persistent that I can't keep to my shop. I guess I'm lucky I've gone through this before, blood on my hands. [She sighs. Violet doesn't sound like she's lucky.]

I think this place makes it easy to forget your past. I can't believe it's been nearly two years since I've been here. [It had been almost two years since everything had started, the moment she left. Two years since Briony beach, which made it four now.

Voilet can be seen around town, though she's not exactly helpful with bloody hands. It's one of those days she finds herself missing her parents.]

So more and more people seem interested in a school, either teaching or learning-- some even both.

I'd like to try to open one up, but I am not entirely sure where we could. Does anyone know of a building? Perhaps five to ten rooms that can hold at least ten to fifteen people? We could schedule classes according to schedules, and if people wish to take or teach something, then they can sign up. With everyone coming in and out, we could do classes in perhaps a five week rotation.

[These are just thoughts she's had on the subject.]

And if any very furtive denizens have thoughts on the matter, I could use any and all help. [A call to any VFD members that Lemony may or may not have recruited.]

Pie day was pretty clever of the castle. It isn't something I've heard of, but being an inspired and hopeful engineer, the number is an important part of mathematics and physics.

Speaking of, I was thinking about the idea of a school again. I don't know how many qualified teachers there are, but is anyone willing to become one? I know we have many people who have studied a variety of things, and it can be beneficial to anyone who wants to pick up a class or two.

The subject is up to you.

I'm headed to the stables if you're not busy.

So things with the shop are finally expanding, and I still find myself questioning if this is real. [With Sunny and Lemony here now, she's sure she's going to wake up from some wonderful dream only to realize she's still in the clutches of Olaf.]

But I was thinking about school. I know I'm technically too old for it, but has anyone ever tried such a thing here? I know nothing can really do much, but I know I've learned a lot about engineering here, and I'm always seeing people requesting others to teach English or Math.

It's just an idea.

To the best guardian I've known,

You are cordially invited to a very fine dinner. My sister has picked out a recipe. We'd like to see you at your earliest convenience.

[She isn't sure if the filters are still broken or not, but if more people want to know about the dinner, she'll be happy to tell them.]

With my sister back, I've been doing some thinking. I own a repair shop of sorts, I build and invent things, too. I think I should hire on a new person, maybe two. Pay isn't the best, but it's something for your own.

I was thinking of an assistant, someone with some mechanical skill might be nice. But if you're interested in it, I wouldn't mind an apprentice to start. Someone to keep the desk, maybe clean up a bit?

[She wants to get her priorities straight. Make sure there's someone around so she can take Sunny out. She also missed out on an expedition as well.]

I'm also looking for a carpenter. I want to make my kitchen bigger. I can do all the work for setting up the appliances, but I need to take out a wall and maybe put up more cabinets?

I'm not sure.

I should like to announce my sister Sunny has arrived. [For those that know her, it's a big deal.] She's two and usually has a ribbon in her hair. She's very independent, but she's still learning to speak.

While I'm very good at taking care of her, I'm going to need some things. [Things she can actually afford. She hopes her parents are proud of her.] Dresses and the like. Sunny can keep herself occupied. She's a very good cook actually, and very intelligent.

She does have sharp teeth though. So I would beware.

It's almost sun down, so anyone who would like to celebrate Hanukkah, regardless of your religious background, is welcome to come to my shop for the blessing and some food. I've certainly made enough.

Happy Hanukkah to those who celebrate it.

ooc: post is here. It's completely open, and Violet totally has presents for her close cr.

[Violet is spending most of the day decorating the shop with Christmas lights and the like. They're all ornaments she's welded together. She set out a menorah as well. Once she gets a break, she decides to pull open the journal.]

I know most people celebrate Christmas, but I celebrated Hanukkah with a few people last year. I like Christmas as well, and while I've never been the most religious, I like that everyone here is culturally open.

So anyone who wishes is welcome to have dinner with me for the first night of Hanukkah, no matter what you believe in, or don't as the case may be. The first night is the 8th.

A very festive day.

Most seem to be talking about Thanksgiving. There are other holidays coming up as well. Hanukkah less than a month away, too. You see, last year was enjoyable. Everyone seemed to get into the spirit. Celebrating holidays, any holiday, seem to go over well here. I was just wondering this year if there are any plans?

I'd like to biuld a manorah this year. Perhaps invite some over to light it.

Just an idea.

[Guess who is building in the lobby again? She hasn't done anything on commission for over a month, but she's building little medal sculpturs. Yes, welding in the lobby. It's not dangerous at all. Never mind that the eighteen year old still looks sixteen.

She's mainly working with wire and left over metal bits to create little pieces. She's not much of an artist, but welding is pretty fun. Besides she's borrowed some books from the library on the American Welding Society and the ASTM.

While she's in her element and always willing to talk to others, it's probably advisable to not bother her when the flame is out.]

I think I quite like the town. I've never spent much time here, but there are quite a few shops here. Even if I'm pretty busy here. I'm still always taking offers to build.

I was wondering though, since the expedition has gotten back, but do we know of any roads or means of transit outside the Deadzone? Or is there no connection at all between those that live that far out.

Do we even have a suitable map? Updated at least?

[Cesare]

Speaking of transit, I have your radio controlled airplane. As promised.

So the shop is all up and running, cleaned and it's my own place. [She can't help how excited she truly is for this.]

I've set up the place if any want to stop by. There's food and drinks and things. [She's not the most sociable.] And of course if anyone has anything they need to be fixed or built, well I'm your girl.

I don't really have a name for the place, but it's only about a black into the town. There's balloons out.

I know I have missed the expedition, but I wanted to make sure my shop was set up before setting out anywhere. I have already been on two, and find them very enjoyable. So if anyone is reading from there, I am giving you all my best wishes and hope that you all return safely.

[She clears her throat.]

I've found a cheap, small space for my workshop, and I suppose I am officially open. It's a repair shop, but I also can build any sort of equipment need be. Back home I mainly invented, but here I've been building equipment for the clinic for over a year. I can certainly provide references.

Anyway, maybe when everyone gets back, I was thinking of a get together here. It's the first thing I've ever really had, and it's likely to be the only thing if ever I return home.
signedlefthanded: (vingt-neuf ° résolu)
[personal profile] signedlefthanded
Despite the little interruption there, I think I've finished all of my projects that I was working on. So if you had something you wanted me to build, then you're welcome to get into contact with me to arrange to drop it off.

[Clearly having work to do could keep her busy enough to not think about family.]

I'm also willing to lend myself again should anyone want something. I've actually been thinking. Of getting something together to make a shop out in the city. With my time back home plus the near fourteen months I've been here, I think I'm of age now. Certainly responsible to maintain a place of my own.

[Filtered to Dr. House]

I just-- wanted to thank you for everything. I haven't had a father since I was fourteen.

Still stuck in the clinic. We're all okay, for the most part. Bored. His Highness, King House, didn't really leave us with anything.

I've got my tools at least. That's how I got landed here. I've managed maintenance on all the equipment. There is a list, but I won't bore you.

I'd like any information on anything similar to this. I'd never heard of the castle cutting anyone off before. It's a little aggravating. I miss my bed. And I'm sure Cubone is probably looking for me. If someone could stop by my room and feed him? That would be great.

[She stares at the journal before laying back in one of the cots. Well, this is fantastic. She'll go back to counting the tiles. Or attempting to rig something to get them out -- but if powers weren't doing anything, they were screwed.]

ooc: open for action for anyone stuck with her.

Was that the first time the castle changed to someone's home? Percy's wasn't too bad. Action packed, certainly. I know the castle changes. I've been here long enough with the pirates and Paris and all. I just would hope the castle doesn't see fit to change back to my home.

At least for the sake of people who know me. [Considering how many people tend to die around her. Although being stranded on an island wouldn't be so bad. Although it wouldn't be magical. And this many people, starvation was likely.]

Anyway, I got an interesting sword out of the deal-- even though I'm really not the type to fight.

It king of feels good to be back in the castle, having my tools and the library. [Which means she's back to building for any of those that were wondering. Which clearly means she needs to be bugged. She's currently in the lobby.]

Oh, does anyone have access to a lab where I can test some radioactive materials. Yes, I know what I'm doing. I just don't want to subject the castle to it, but it's kind of vital to what I'm building.

I believe the DNA Analysis machine is ready. At least to the perimeters you gave me earlier. I would have given it to you earlier, but due to some losses and being sent home, it's taken me longer than expected.

[End of Filter]

Being back here is unsettling, and I've already finished a project. Mr. Moriarty, you mentioned a radiation scanner. I don't know if anyone needs any equipment. I'm quite capable. I've built several machines in the clinic. Mr. Holmes and Dr. House can attest to it.

I'm a fast learner and nothing can best me.

I need something to do. [More than anyone knows.]

Thank you.
