Maybe it's because I've never had a significant other, but I honestly do not see the point in Valentine's Day. And people have told me in the future it is far more commercialized. If you truly care about someone, shouldn't you show this at every opportunity and not just one day a year?

I understand everyone likes to feel appreciated, but perhaps I'm too logical in this. I think I would rather something personal. But then I've also never been on a date. I have yet to even consider the psychological aspect of an intimate relationship like that.

Perhaps I shall look into that as well. [Because she needs a break between reading biochem technology books and learning computer code.]

Life gets in the way of showing appreciation, Valentines is a reminder to take time for someone you care about. It's easy to take people for granted when you're caught up in the every day.

It feels like an excuse. I understand being too busy. Probably more than most. But I know the people around me knew that I loved them more than anything. [Then again nearly sacrificing yourself and fighting for an individual at least twelve times in the past two years says a lot for one's commitment to another person.]

It is an excuse. I'm not saying that's how it ought to be but how it generally is. People become complacent and take for granted that the people they care for know just how much they do.

Well it's mostly a girl thing anyhow. They want to be cherished by their boyfriend that day for some romantic reason. We guys just have to put up with it.

That might be so. Valentine's day is not exactly aimed to guys. If you are in love with someone you don't need a special day to tell them.

Eh I just use it as an excuse to make chocolate for all my girl friends. I've gotten pretty good!

If you go out with a guy here, just be careful. It's not like...meeting someone at school.

Just because there's a day set aside to it doesn't mean that you can't still appreciate every day, if it did there'd be far more births in November.

I believe many share your opinion of Valentine's Day. It's a demoralizing, false holiday intended to exalt those with good fortune in romance, while punishing those who lack it. Best just to ignore it.
