I'm sure everyone has noticed the new journals by now. Seems like we'll have a clean slate for this new year. I can't help wondering if this is a good or bad thing.

[River hums softly in thought for a few moments before resuming with her entry]

I have some important news to share. It has to do with the Doctor and I, but since I haven't yet gotten around to telling said news to my own parents, I'll settle for this.

The Doctor and I will be renewing our vows. That's right! There's going to be a wedding, preferably in the spring. When the Doctor went through his latest 'update' it seems he now recalls our wedding. The initial event was hurried because of circumstances beyond our control, so we're going to renew our vows and go through all the bells and whistles this time.

Amy? Rory? Please get in touch with me. Or the Doctor, whomever you're more comfortable with.

Thank you James, you're too kind. The only issue we have right now is how to break this to my parents.

It's quite a leap, as I'm sure you can understand.

And indeed, I can. And unfortunately, I am, hardly one to ask about such matters, though your father, seems the, type to, over react to some extent yes?

Rory Williams can be quite emotional, yes. I'm just hoping he doesn't use his Roman sword on the Doctor. I rather like my husband in one piece.

It's not that Rory doesn't like the Doctor, it's just he's highly protective of his family. As anyone would be with such a dangerous life to be led by the Doctor's side.

I can imagine so, and I truly would not, wish to repay the Doctor for his aide, by attempting to attend to him while he is injured.

And any man, would be. And it is not only, the, Doctor's life style, father's are naturally protective of children, most notably daughters. Combined with the Doctor's lifestyle, or even, your own, penchant for adventure, and, stabbing him with his sword, would be the least many fathers would do for such a thing.

Yes, well he only just recently found out I was his daughter. He's seen what traveling with the Doctor can do to me, how seeing the Doctor slowly forget about me has hurt me. So it's not just the physical danger.

[She chuckles]

Pond women are extremely versatile. He should know that better then anyone. I think if anyone can come out of such a conversation in one piece, it's the Doctor. Not that I don't think Rory wouldn't at least threaten him.

It never is, not with such things. [He knows that well really.]

I have little doubt in the Doctor's skill, nor in what your father chooses to do. But I do hope it goes well, for all involved, I would be rather, unhappy to hear such a happy occasion, was ruined because of something.

Well he can hardly prevent the Doctor from marrying me, that's already happened. I'd just rather by parents be happy for me.

They can however, regret such a thing until such a time as they are happy with it. But I understand, and I hope they are, for your sake.

Tell me James, do you have children? I've never heard you mention any.

[His voice drops a little at that. Only slightly though.] Because I do not have any children. Except for the two, Helen raised and I helped with as I could. And I, lost contact with my brother's side of the family.

[River's voice is unusually neutral on the subject]

I'm not sure if I should say I'm sorry....

[James is just keeping his voice as neutral as possible really.]

Nothing to be sorry about, between the lack of time with my work, the lack of, anyone I could ask of such a thing, and my physical difficulties later in life, it is for the best. [And he's sticking to that.]

I can certainly understand.

[And a quick change of subject]

How have you been feeling lately?

[Good idea really, and his voice gets noticeably happier as he talks.]

Stiff, but otherwise well enough. And yourself?

Oh quite well. A bit hungry for adventure though. I wish there was some archaeology to be done around here.

I happen to enjoy the quiet, it is, rather nice after everything. Though if you would like to discuss with someone from a world that may interest you, or she may in general, have you talked with a woman named Xena?

No, actually. I haven't heard of this Xena. Is she an archaeologist or an adventurer in general?

A warrior, in her words. Though I do believe you and her would get along well. [She does with Helen after all...and if James wasn't drunk or Victorian they probably would as well.]

Oh then I simply must meet her. I'll keep an eye out for her.

[You've started a dangerous trio, James]

She is, rather difficult to miss. Her armor is, rather, revealing.

[He feels no shame in this really. So long as they leave him alone of course.]

And you have a problem with revealing armor?

[Note the disappointment in her voice]

How positively Victorian of you.

[;alkjsf ;; River. You say that like it's a bad thing.]

When the armor itself, shows far more skin than even clothing in the 21st century, yes I do, have an issue with it.

You've seen me wearing a swimsuit that I Wager reveals far more. I didn't see you complaining then.

You were wearing a swimsuit, an entirely different situation, as it is to be expected. And for the record, her armor is amazingly close to that in terms of how revealing it is.

Oh? I should really like to meet her now. She sounds positively exquisite
