[This... was not where he expected to be. That's apparent by the look on his face, which is both confused and cautious. He reaches for something at his side, only to find it missing and a strange book tucked into his hakama-himo where it should have been.

This appears to anger him slightly. He looks suspiciously at his surroundings and whispers to no one in particular.]

...Has he managed to fool us once again?

[Finding no answer or immediate danger in his surroundings, he flips open the book, looking for clues.]

What is this?

[He seems to take a moment to think about this, looking around the room a bit.]

No. As far as I know... there is no way. A... price is paid to the castle to be here--aptly called a 'loss' by most residents. It seems ludicrous as most of us never asked to be brought here in the first place but... it is what it is. It sounds as though you are referring to a physical object--others lose memories or abilities... generally something of importance.

I don't know what the purpose of this is... Some believe the castle is sentient... and that the losses somehow sustain it.

[One could say it was both a physical object and an ability... but to a shinigami it meant so much more. He's still not keen on revealing too much, however, the location of his journal he had tucked back into his hakama-himo might reveal a clue.]

[He gestures to the spot where he was standing originally, not too far away.]
