The Carnival! (DAY ONE)

[Around 11:00am, the rides and vendors and stands suddenly appear, bustling with sounds and movements as the carnival spins to life. Throughout the day, all kinds of foods, rides, and games are available, but around the carnival signs are posted about a raffle that evening, with the items listed. Wait, did that belong to you? Well now it's up for raffle! Come buy tickets from any of the ghosts with said tickets slung across their shoulders like a sash.]

(ooc: There will be one section for the actual raffle - an ooc post will be up in a couple moments to claim the items- but other than that, go wild!)

What, chocolate? It can be, but this is more like a hard candy coating.

--If you've never had chocolate before, I am buying you some right now.

[persequor]

I haven't heard of it before.

[encryptedlock]

Be right back.

[Yep, he's going to go buy her one of those chocolate-covered ice cream sandwiches. Hopefully she'll be there when he gets back.]

[persequor]

[ Luckily for him, curiosity overrides distrust at the moment. She remains where he left her, trying to keep Nymeria from eating a nearby vendor out of business. ]

[encryptedlock]

Here. It's cold, so be careful.

[He'll keep an eye on her wolf, but as it doesn't seem to be hostile at the moment, he doesn't see why it can't enjoy the carnival as well.]

[persequor]

Um…thank you. [ That Nymeria hasn't snarled at the man or the strange food is the only reason she takes a bite. She makes a noise half between amazement and complaint. Not only is it really cold, it's sweeter than almost everything she has ever eaten. ]

[encryptedlock]

[Well, he is a good guy, even if his taste wanders to things like bacon flavored ice cream.]

Sure. Not bad, huh? I love the food you can get here.

[And besides, every kid should have chocolate once in a while. It's just not right if they don't.]

[persequor]

[ She swallows. ]

It's very cold. How do you keep it like that?

[encryptedlock]

[Well, if she's never had chocolate, she's probably not familiar with freezers, either.] Same way as with the refrigerator in the kitchen. You keep a big box cool by running energy to it, and then you keep food inside the box. It stays good a lot longer that way.

[persequor]

Oh. [ She continues eating, but not fast enough. Soon she's trying to chase after the melted rivulets. ]

[encryptedlock]

[York's doing the same with his own ice cream, since it is pretty hot outside.]

We might need some napkins. But it's not bad, is it?

[persequor]

Mm-mm. [ She shakes her head. ]

[encryptedlock]

You got enough money to buy yourself some more snacks, if you want them?

[It's a fair, after all. The food is part of the fun.]

[persequor]

No. All the coin I make I give my lady mother.

[encryptedlock]

[He nods. That's fair enough.]

Think you could ask her for some spending money? This sort of thing doesn't happen too often, so it's good to be able to enjoy it while you can.

[persequor]

None of it interests me.

[encryptedlock]

Really? That's too bad. [York thinks she must have a pretty rough life if roller coasters and minigames don't sound fun.]

But you could at least try some of the food, right? And maybe bring some to her, if you find anything you like.

[persequor]

[ He doesn't know the half of it. ]

This was good.

[encryptedlock]

[He nods, smiling a little as he takes a bite of one of his other fried monstrosities.]

You ought to bring her down here to try one, if she's free.

[persequor]

Mayhaps. What's it called?

[encryptedlock]

That one is a chocolate dipped ice cream sandwich. There's also a lot of stuff on a stick if you want to try that.

[persequor]

[ Chocolate dipped ice cream sandwich. Arya repeats it to herself mentally until she's certain she will remember. ]

Why is it all on a stick?

[encryptedlock]

Well, it's either because it's more fun to eat that way, or so that you can walk around and look at everything while you're eating.

Maybe both. I'm not really sure.

[persequor]

[ She shrugs. ]

It's good a reason as any.

[encryptedlock]

Exactly.

[York grins again, trying to encourage a little lightheartedness in her.]

Just stay away from the deep fried salsa. I don't even want to know how they did that.
